Objectives must be met over the week and connected to the curriculum standards. To meet the objectives
necessary procedures must be followed and if needed, additional lessons, exercises, and remedial activities may
be done for developing content knowledge and competencies. These are assessed using Formative Assessment
strategies. Valuing objectives support the learning of content and competencies and enable children to find
significance and joy in learning the lessons. Weekly objectives shall be derived from the curriculum guides.
The learner demonstrates understanding of how world literature and other
text types serve as sources of wisdom in expressing and resolving conflicts
among individuals, groups and nature; also, how to use evaluative reading,
listening and viewing strategies, special speeches for occasion, pronouns and
structures of modification.
The learner skillfully delivers a speech for a special occasion through utilizing
effective verbal and non-verbal strategies and ICT resources.
The learners should be able to:
1. Identify the different types and parts of an informative essay.
2. Use of variety of informative, persuasive, and argumentative writing

3. Appreciate the techniques in developing an effective essay.
Content is what the lesson is all about. It pertains to the subject matter that the teacher aims to teach in the CG,
the content can be tackled in a week or two.

These steps should be done across the week. Spread out the activities appropriately so that students will learn
well. Always be guided by demonstration of learning by the students which you can infer from formative
assessment activities. Sustain learning systematically by providing students with multiple ways to learn new
things, practice their learning, question their learning processes, and draw conclusions about what they learned in
relation to their life experiences and previous knowledge. Indicate the time allotment for each step.

(15 minutes) Writing is an important form of communication. It is the most complex of the four
macro skills in communication.

“macro” means being large, thick, or exceptionally prominent. (Objective 2 - Literacy)

Macro skills refer to the primary, key, main, and largest skill set relative to a particular
context. The four macro skills are reading, listening, writing, and speaking.

Writing allows the students to put their feelings and ideas in paper to organize
knowledge and beliefs into convincing arguments and to convey meaning
through well-constructed text.

Writing technique is a style authors use to convey their message in manner that
is effective and meaningful to their readers.

Let us begin to understand what informative writing is. When we say

informative writing, it explains a topic. It educates the readers by imparting
straightforward information, facts, and details on a certain topic. It gives them a
new understanding or new appreciation of some topics which might be
familiar with. Writers’ answers questions of how and why.

We have four (4) types of informative writing:

1. Definition Essay

Provides detailed explanation of an idea. For instance, about love. The writers
define love based on his research or even his personal experiences.

Example:

The Bible says that God is love and that humans crave love from the moment of
existence. But the word love describes an emotion with vastly differing degrees of
intensity. Four unique forms of love are found in Scripture. They are communicated
through four Greek words (Eros, Storge, Philia, and Agape) and are characterized by
romantic love, family love, brotherly love, and God's divine love. We'll explore these
different types of love in the Bible, and, as we do, we'll discover what love truly means
and how to follow Jesus Christ's command to "love one another."

The highest form of love which is “Agape” is what we have discussed in our lesson in
Edukasyon sa Pagpapakatao (EsP) 10.

Greek is a native or inhabitant of Greece. It means belonging or relating to Greece, or to

its people, language, or culture. (Objective 2 - Literacy)

Greece is a country in southeastern Europe with thousands of islands throughout the

Aegean and Ionian seas. Influential in ancient times, it's often called the cradle of
Western civilization. Athens, its capital, retains landmarks including the 5th-century B.C.
Acropolis citadel with the Parthenon temple. 15 th century was the century which spans
the Julian dates from 1 January 1401 to 31 December 1500. Greece is also known for its
beaches, from the black sands of Santorini to the party resorts of Mykonos.

Trivia: 1 century is equal to 100 years. 1 decade is a period of 10 years. Calculate how
many decades in 1 century? (allow learners to solve)

Answer: 100 years x 1 decade = 10 decades in a century

2. Cause and effect Essay

Explains the connection/link up of two or more events. For example,

cyberbullying. Here the essay may contain their reasons why one experience
cyberbullying and what are the effects of this.

3. Opposing Sides Essay

Presents all sides of issue (pros and cons). For instance, on death penalty. The
essay may all have the details on why “People’s Initiative” needs to push through
and not.

4. Process Essay

Gives a step-by-step explanation on how something works or how to do

something. For example, how to travel solo successfully. So, in this kind of

essay you are expected to point or give tips how to travel solo successfully.
Informative writing has three (3) main parts.

1. Introduction. The beginning or the introduction needs to present the topic

and grab your readers attention. It is where the thesis statement is found
which serves as a road map of an informative text because the whole essay is
built around it. basically, it summarizes the entire essay.
2. Body. The body or middle part of informative essay should provide all the
necessary information. This is where the thesis statement is fully explained. It
must piece out fully the lack of information in an issue. As a writer,
you must use various sources, facts, statistics, expert judgements and
other supporting details to make sure all information are reliable, unbiased,
and accurate. You also must create an outline that will organize your facts in a
logical way.
3. Conclusion. In conclusion, you should restate about the seriousness of
the issue and summarize the facts for and against the main topic. You
should never introduce some new information or ideas in the
conclusion. Its main purpose round off your informative essay by
summing up.

To better understand and easily remember the essential parts of

informative essay look at this formula: (I+MID+C).

I for introduction; MI for main idea; D for details; and C for conclusion.
