1. OBJECTIVE

This document describes the general structure of numbering system used in Lower Zakum
Field, Nasr Field, Umm Lulu Field, SARB Field, Umm Shaif Field & Das Island. All
drawings, documents and plant items shall be numbered in accordance with the instructions
given within this document.

If a facility is not found in the above list, Contractor shall liaise with Company ES–D&D team
for procuring the concerned procedure.

3. PLANT ITEM TAGGING AND NUMBERING

The below plant item tag nomenclature shall be implemented on plant items by Contractor,
Subcontractor & Vendor to facilitate easy traceability in the ADNOC Offshore Engineering
Information Management system (EIM).

3.1 General Notes

a. Any type of new Code, (e.g., letter “P”). if not defined in this procedure shall be
registered in the master EIM System prior to use.
b. Plant item tags if applicable for identical trains shall be specified in the remarks field
of tag request form.
c. Equipment list shall have individual records for each equipment (A/B), this to create
relation in EIM system.
d. Line list shall have individual records for change in size, spec or insulation this to
create relation in EIM system.
e. Contractor to prepare deleted plant item tags for projects this is to update the
Company tag master EIM system.
f. Contractor to prepare a separate list for superseded master drawings, this is to
update drawing master EIM system.

Diameter of the pipe indicated in inches.
c. Piping Material Specification or PMS
Refer to: Company Piping Material Specification SP-1131 for detail list. If the piping
class is not catering to a specific requirement, additional classes can be proposed,
which shall be approved by Company, prior to implementation.
d. Sequence No
Sequence Numbers shall be unique per fluid code or service. Sequence number shall
change if there is a change in piping material specification (PMS).
The sequence number will be provided by Company’s ES-D&D team on raising a
request by the Contractor or other Business units. Refer Appendix-D
e. Insulation type
Insulation code for line label. Refer Appendix-C, Subsection 8.3 Insulation code.

class is not catering to a specific requirement, additional classes can be proposed,
which shall be approved by Company, prior to implementation.

In case of PDMS/E3D model to facilitate ISO extraction, the sequence number shall
be 01, 02, 03 etc. for each trim.
e. Insulation type
Insulation code for line label. Refer Appendix-C, Subsection 8.3 Insulation code.

3.2.5 Manual Valve Tagging

All manual isolation valves 2” and above shall be tagged and below 2” only if process
necessitates. Other valves i.e., actuated or motorized shall be tagged as per instrument
tagging procedure.

The Valve code for all valves shall be “V” irrespective of the valve type gate, globe
or check, etc.
b. Sequence No
The sequence number will be assigned in blocks by Company’s ES-D&D team on

3.2.6 Piping Specialty Tagging

The items indicated in P&ID and procured as Specialty items will follow the below
format. E.g. (T, Y, Temporary) Strainer, Flame arrestor etc.

Wired tags are required to be registered in Company EIM system, System generated,
or non-wired soft tags need not be registered. All New Instrument tags shall be prefixed
with Area number on the P&ID and Instrument drawings.

Company’s ES-D&D team on raising a request by the Contractor or other Business
units. Refer Appendix-D.
d. Suffix
It is optional (*), the use of suffix shall be employed as follows, a suffix (A, B…Z,
A1) may be used if necessary to link elements in one loop (e.g. split range control
valves) or related to one pump.

3.6 Cable Tagging

Cable tagging for all future Greenfield/Brownfield projects shall follow the below tag
naming convention.

3.6.1 Instrument Cable

Intrinsically safe JBs and cables will be identified by color codes and special Name
Plate markings. The details shall be covered by the standard installation details.

4.1 AD: Abu Dhabi Drawings and Document

All drawings & documents created as part of any major/minor project (external) or
Plant modification request PMR (internal) shall follow the below naming convention for
drawings & documents.

1. Drawing/document numbers should be suitably organized to ensure that the


drawing numbers are in sequence for each Platform/Area.
2. It is preferable to divide the block of numbers and assign to each platform/Area, to
maintain numbering sequence where more than one platform/area are involved in
the same project.

3. In case of multi sheet drawings e.g., Instrument loop, isometrics etc., only sheet
numbers to be incremented per loop.
4. In case of brownfield update, Contractor to request project copy (PC) for the Master
drawing from Company (ES-D&D).
5. For any new drawings in brown field, drawing number will be allocated by Company.
6. In case of Green Field, or new area number contractor to follow the Appendix-A “A.2
SEQUENCE BLOCK “in this document.
7. Where drawings are extracted or created from intelligent system (Aveva suite), the
drawing number shall match the drawings created inside the software.
8. Contractor, Subcontractor & Vendor’s to follow the Appendix-A “A.2 SEQUENCE
BLOCK for drawings & documents.
9. Isometric drawing number shall reflect the PIPE name in the 3D design hierarchy.
Isometric native file shall reflect process line tag.

4.2 Drawing and Document Numbering

4.2.1 Document Numbering

a. All documents shall follow the below numbering, excluding the sheet Number.
b. The electronic file name of the project document shall match the Company
document number. Refer Appendix-A-A.2 SEQUENCE BLOCK for drawings &

4.2.2 Drawing Numbering

a. Existing Drawings

In case of brown field modification, in existing facilities where existing master


drawings are present in the Company EIM system. Contractor to raise a request to
issue a project copy (PC). Ensure that the project is registered in EIM system prior
to requesting a PC.

5. REVISIONS IN DRAWING AND DOCUMENT

5.1 General

All drawings and documents created for ADNOC Offshore shall conform to Company
standards. Prior written approval is required from ADNOC Offshore Central Engineering
Design section for any deviations to these Standards.

ADNOC Offshore reserves the right of refusal of drawings and documents that do not
conform to these standards. Each discipline sample drawing output shall be submitted
for Company approval, prior to implementation of design.

5.2 Revision Control

a. Revision Number
All drawing and documents revisions shall be numbered numerically starting from
Rev. 1, 2, 3 etc.
Drawing revision number starting from 1 for drawings submitted to Company for
review/ approval and 2, 3…for subsequent revisions.
Any other revision prior to submittal to Company may have different revision
indicator.
b. Revision Clouds
Revision cloud with revision number triangle should be used to surround the last
revision made to a drawing. The clouds and number triangles are to appear only for
the last revision, all clouds and number triangles of previous revisions shall be
removed.
c. As built
Upon completion of the project, all drawings and document shall be updated to “As
built” status. drawing shall be devoid of revision clouds and revision number
triangles raised previously.

5.3 Master Drawings

a) The Master drawings resides in Company EIMS system it is updated and maintained
by ES-D&D. Revision clouds and number triangles are not used on Master Drawings.
b) Upon receipt of As-Built information for Plant modification request (PMR), the details
shall be transferred to the Master Drawing with a highlighted note added above the
title block in the Master drawing to refer to the (project) drawing as following.

c) The superseded (project) drawing shall stay in the archiving system for “information
only” and accessible only by special permission.
d) Manual drawings which are converted to CAD format should be renumbered
according to the drawing numbering system. A highlighted note shall be added
above the title block to refer to the old drawing as following.

to ADNOC Offshore Job Engineer, who shall forward the same by email to CED.ES.D&D.
