Activity The learners will be having the activity Emoplay

-The teacher gives each student a set of emotion
cards (happy, sad, angry, surprised, perplexed, etc.)
and action cards (pointing, clapping, waving, etc.).
-She asks the students to randomly pick an emotion
card and an action card.
-In pairs, students must create a short scene or
dialogue where they incorporate the assigned emotion
and action, using facial expressions, gestures, and
movements to convey them accurately.
-Each pair will perform their scenes for the class,
and the rest of the class will guess the emotion and
action being portrayed.
Analysis Understanding speech principles focused on facial
expressions, gestures and movements.
The teacher asks the following questions as prompts
for the discussion:
1. What did you notice about the role of facial
expressions in conveying emotions during the
"Emoplay" activity?
(Learners will be encouraged to share their observations about
how specific facial expressions helped them understand the
assigned emotion in their scenes or dialogues. Highlight the
impact of facial expressions on nonverbal communication and its
role in enhancing the delivery of a speech.)
2. How did gestures enhance the portrayal of actions
in the scenes or dialogues during the activity?
(Prompt learners to discuss how the use of appropriate gestures
helped convey the assigned action more effectively. Encourage
them to share specific examples of gestures they used and how
they contributed to the overall communication of their scene or
dialogue.)
3. What role did movements play in the "Emoplay"
activity?
(The teacher leads a discussion on the importance of movements
in speech delivery. Prompt students to reflect on how movements
can add emphasis, emphasize key points, and create a dynamic
presence. Encourage them to share specific movements they
incorporated and how these movements enhanced their overall
communication.)
4. How do you think the principles of facial
expressions, gestures, and movements apply to
speech writing?

(Learners will be asked to consider how the principles of

relevance, synchronization, and authenticity discussed earlier
relate to the use of facial expressions, gestures, and movements in
effective speech writing. Encourage them to think critically about
how these nonverbal communication elements can be incorporated
purposefully, coordinated with spoken words, and reflect the
speaker's authenticity.)

Facial expressions convey emotions and they can be

used to enhance the effectiveness of their speech
delivery.

By using appropriate hand movements, body

language, and other physical actions, speakers can
effectively convey their message and engage their
audience. Gestures have power in reinforcing and
augmenting the content of speeches.

Movements can be used to create a dynamic and

engaging presentation. By incorporating appropriate
movements, such as walking, pacing, or even simple
movements like nodding or shaking the head,
speakers can express different aspects of their
speech, emphasize key points, and create a visual
impact that reinforces their message

Abstraction - Have each group create a short role-play or skit

based on the scenario they brainstormed.
- In their role-plays, students should demonstrate the
effective use of facial expressions, gestures, and
movements according to their assigned principle.
- Each group will present their role-play to the class,
explaining the principle they focused on and how it
enhances speech delivery.

Conclude the activity with a summary of the

appropriate use of facial expressions, gestures and
movements in the different roles presented.
Application Learners will be divided into five groups. Each
group will be assigned to specific topic, and they will
prepare a short speech incorporating the principles of
speech writing discussed.

- In their groups, students must create a script for a

short speech related to the assigned topic. They
should focus on incorporating facial expressions,
gestures, and movements that are appropriate for the
context.
- Each group will then perform their speeches for
the class, and the audience will evaluate them based
on the effective use of nonverbal communication
elements in relation to the scenario.
- After each performance, learners and the teacher
will provide constructive feedback on the effectiveness
of the non-verbal communication techniques used.
(This evaluation allows for real-time feedback and
encourages the class to actively participate in the
evaluation process.)
