METHOD STATEMENT FOR TILING WORKS


SCOPE OF WORK :
This method statement outlines the proposed construction procedure for
fixation of tiling works for wet areas and dry areas.

MATERIALS :
1. Screed
2. Tile adhesive
3. Grout
4. Wall tile
5. Floor tile
6. Tile spacer

PROCEDURE :
WALL TILING :
1. Workers shall be provided with PPE i.e. Helmets, Safety Shoes, Safety
glasses and mouth mask.

2. After completion of plastering with rough finish, it will be make sure that
all surfaces must be sound and thoroughly clean before tiling and all loose
particles of mortar, foreign material, etc., must be physically removed.

3. Determine and establish the levels and mark on the wall and start with full
size of tile and any cut piece will be at the top.

4. The joints of wall tiles will follow the joints of floor tiles which is decided
by the location of the floor trap in which that the floor trap will be in the
center of the tile.

5. All the visible service points will be located in the center of the tiles.

6. Joints of the Floor tiles will be maintained to achieve the same alignment
of wall tiles joints.

7. Approved Glue(Adhesive) will be mixed as per manufacturers


recommendations.

8. The Adhesive will be spread on the substrate to a uniform thickness of 2-
3mm then the tile shall be placed firmly on to adhesive bed, ensuring good
contact with a twisting motion.

9. Grouting of tiles joint shall be commenced after 24 hours.

10. Approved grout shall be mixed as per manufacturers recommendations


and shall be applied in the tile joints.

11. When the grout is dry, the tiles shall be cleaned with a dry cloth and run
the tip of gloved finger along the grout to level it.

FLOOR TILING :
1. Water proofing shall be applied for wet areas of first floor before laying
screed with required slopes.

2. Workers shall be provided required PPE i.e. Helmets, Safety Shoes,


Safety glasses and mouth mask.

3. It shall be make sure that all surfaces are sound and thoroughly clean
before tiling and all loose particles of mortar, foreign material, etc., are
physically removed.

4. Required level of floor tiles shall be established and marked on the wall
before starting the fixing of tiles.

5. For wet areas the joints of wall tiles will follow the joints of floor tiles.

6. For dry areas floor tiles will be laid as per approved shop drawings.

7. Approved Glue(Adhesive) will be mixed as per manufacturers


recommendations.

8. The Adhesive shall be spread on the substrate to a uniform thickness of 2-


3mm then the tile shall be placed firmly on to adhesive bed, ensuring good
contact with a twisting motion.

9. Grouting of tiles joint shall be commenced after 24 hours.

applied in the tile joints.

11. When the Grout is dry, the tiles shall be cleaned with a dry cloth and run
the tip of gloved finger along the grout to level it.
