I. OBJECTIVES At the end of the lesson the students are expected to:

Activity Name: Definitional Kaleidoscope
Mechanics:
The teacher will divide the class into 3.
Each group has an assigned task.
The class is only given 5 minutes to finish the task.
The group who finishes first will gain a privilege to
choose the order of presentation.
Group 1: Pandemic
Directions: Give the expanded definition of the word
‘Pandemic’ using cause and effect.
Group 2: Empathy
Directions: Give the expanded definition of the word
‘Empathy’ through providing descriptions.
Group 3: Art
Directions: Give the expanded definition of the word ‘Art’
through giving examples.
ANALYSIS
(After the presentation the teacher is going to process the
outputs of the students.)

ABSTRACTION
Providing Descriptions
The parts of the subject are listed; the subject is described in
terms of how it is perceived by one’s senses. For instance,
one can write an expanded definition by stating the texture,
color, smell, shape, and sound of a particular thing.
Giving Examples
Providing examples to readers gives them a concrete idea of
the meaning of a word or term. Through the examples, a
concept that may be unfamiliar to the readers is elaborated.
IV. APPLICATION Activity Name (Ticket): "Beyond Borders:
Illuminating the Triad of Economy, Patriotism, and
Nature" (Multi-disciplinary Approach)
Mechanics:
The class is divided into 3.
Each group has different assigned word.
Through a speech the groups should provide
an expanded definition of their assigned word.
The groups should choose 1 representative to
deliver their speech based from their assigned
word.
Group 1: Economy
Group 2: Patriotism
Group 3: Nature
V. EVALUATION Directions:
Give the expanded definitions of the following words/terms
using different approaches or a combination of approaches in
writing definitions. (Integrative/ Inquiry-based Approach)
Note: Values shall be integrated in any part of the lesson when deemed necessary.
