Summary

My version of the upcoming Season 4 date on the pier

or

JJ and Kiara play an interesting game of Truth or Dare

Notes

Just a playful idea that came to my head

"What are we now, Jayj?"

It was a question he knew was coming and should have been prepared for but when was JJ
ever prepared for anything really? He kind of hoped that it would just be obvious. I mean
how many couples can say that "I love you's" were said before their first kiss? The
percentage had to be extremely low. He wants her, he's wanted her for as long as he can
remember but he chooses to turn the question around on her because well... he's JJ Maybank.
"What do you want, Kie?"

"J... don't." She says before rolling her eyes and looking out toward the water as the two walk
down the pier together, arms brushing against each others ever so often and if he notices she’s
unsure, now more than ever.

"Don't what?" He argues playfully but when she looks back at him he can see the sadness in
her eyes and he hates himself for being the one that wiped the smile off her face. When he
nervously invited her to the pier for snow cones just an hour ago he basked in the smile it
brought to her face. They had been laying low, avoiding her parents and getting out of the
condo was becoming more of a need than a want after two weeks. They were staying in the
same bedroom, sharing a bed, had kissed more than a few times but talk about what they
were to each other now just hadn’t happened. He didn’t bring it up due to his own insecurities
and she hadn’t either for whatever reason.

When she doesn't say anything he decides to have a little fun, a quick attempt to change the
mood and chances were by the time they were done they'd have the label she was seeking.
"Truth or Dare, Kie?"

"Seriously? You want to play Truth or Dare... right now?" She's beyond confused by the
diversion as she finishes her snow cone, tossing it into the trash receptacle nearby.

"Why not? It'll be fun!" He says and she can see the excitement on his face.

"It's not fun when there's only two of us, Jayj and we both know you'll say dare and I'll say
truth every time."

"Let’s make it interesting then… you have to choose dare and I have to choose truth.”

He initially laughs when he sees the smile that spreads across her face, her eyebrows lifting
in a you’re in trouble sort of way and he’s suddenly a little terrified. There’s a reason he
always chose dare when asked. But maybe if he's forced to answer her questions within this
game it would be easier for him because well, he'd really have no choice but to be truthful
and he was never one to back down from a request within said game.

"Okay... Truth or Truth?"

He smirks at her, dimple and all when he answers, "Truth, the first one, not the second."

She giggles. "Like it matters." She takes her time thinking about her first question while his
anxiety starts making him antsy.
"Come on Kie, we don't got all day."

"Don't rush me!" She reacts pushing him playfully. "Okay, I got it... What's your number?"

"Number?"

"Yeah... how many girls have you slept with?"

He can't even believe this is the question she's asking right now as his hand works its way
through his blonde locks and his eyes roll. She knew what she was doing when she asked the
question. Knew that he would struggle to answer but that was the point. She wanted to see if
this game was really worth playing before he dared her to do something crazy.

"Kie... Why do you want to know that?"

"Just answer the question."

"Come on, Kie. I really don't want to answer that besides I'm sure you have an idea. Hell you
were outside the room for quite a few of em!" It was true, she spent more than enough nights
on the pullout at The Chateau with JJ in the other room doing god knows what but regardless
the game was Truth or Truth and he had to answer or GAME OVER.

When she remains quiet, waiting patiently for his answer as they walk down the pier he
caves, "Fine... I don't know the exact number. It's not like I kept count or anything… but if I
had to guess... probably 12.” His face contorts into a cringe before adding, “There...happy
now?"

He's staring down at the wood planks beneath his feet feeling shameful guilt for having been
with other girls when his heart has always belonged to her but in his defense he never
dreamed that he’d ever have a chance with her either.

“Yes… I’d have guessed more actually.” She says, teasing him with a shrug of her shoulders
when he gives her a less than serious look of hurt.

“Ouch! Don’t hold back, Kie. Tell me how you really feel.”

“Oh please… stop acting like you’re remotely offended and get on with this so called game
of yours.” She counters as they stop half way down the pier. She’s staring at him, those
innocent beautiful brown eyes begging him to go easy on her.

“I dare you to make out with me for thirty seconds, right here... right now."

The dare surprises her. He hasn't put forth any effort in public to make it known that there
something and she hesitates for a beat as she looks around. He does the same and then
realizes, "Wow, there really is a lot of people..." He's caught off guard when she interrupts
him, grabbing his face and pulling his lips to hers.

When they part, his cheeks are flushed and his eyes struggle to leave her lips, that is until her
lips part and she speaks, deciding it's time for his next confession, "Why did you dare me to
do that, Jayj?"
"Is that my second question?"

She decides that even though it wasn't a planned truth question she'll offer it as such because
she really does want to know. "Yes."

With a heavy sigh he quietly admits, “Because, I've wanted to kiss you since we left the
condo."

“Then why didn’t you?” She shyly asks and when he looks away she grabs his chin and
forces his attention back to her.

"I don’t know, Kie. Just didn’t know if I should, you know… in public or whatever. Didn’t
want to make you uncomfortable and… now I’m realizing that daring you was probably a
shitty thing to do. Didn’t mean to force you into a public display of affection… especially
with me.”

“What do you mean especially with you?”

“Just… forget it. Time for your next torturous question for me.” He says placing his hand on
her lower back attempting and failing to move her forward.

“That was your question remember.” She reminds although she doesn’t feel like he answered
it all truthfully.

“Nah… we won’t count that one. Go ahead…”

"Do you want to be… together?” She wasn’t exactly sure how to word the question. Do you
want to be my boyfriend? Do you want me to be your girlfriend? Do you want to be a
couple? Ugh, it all sounded so childish.

“Yes, but... I'm worried." He admits looking over at her and she can see it in his face, he’s
still scared.

"Worried about what?"

"Everything. God Kie, I've wanted you for half my life. And I had accepted that we would
never... and now... well I'm worried that I'll screw it up or..."

"Or what?"

"Or you'll change your mind. And if you want to... change your mind... I totally understand.
We can go back to being best friends and just move on with our own lives.”

"Nope." She shakes her head and crosses her arms turning on her heals to face him. That was
the last straw. She was done letting him put up walls that she fought so hard to break down.

"What?”

"Nope… not gonna happen. Not changing my mind and we're not going back… absolutely
not. And to circle back if I may… If you don’t kiss me in public… well that’s gonna be a
problem because I want everyone and I mean everyone to know that we’re a couple; Pogues,
Kooks, Tourons. All of em…understand?”

“Yes, Ma’am.”

“Good. Now let’s get this last dare out of the way so we can go somewhere and make out.”
She says as he throws an arm around her shoulders, leaning in close to her ear.

“Or we could just go somewhere right now and…”

“No. Fair is fair. I have one more dare. Come on, J.”

After putting up a small all be it cute tantrum over postponing their make out session he says,
“Oh, alright… I dare you to jump off the pier."

"Uh... pretty sure the security guards are not going to allow that." She advises clocking the
two security personnel roaming about the deck.

"They will if you're quick." He whispers in her ear before pulling her closer to the railing.

"I don't know, Jayj."

"I'll even do it with you." He was never going to let her jump off the pier without him. He’s
not that stupid. As far as he was concerned as long as she wanted him near he would be as
close as physically possible.

"You'd do it with me?" She knows he will. He probably only dared her because he wanted to
do it.

"I'd do anything with you, Kie. Come on, take this leap with me?"

It was then that she realized what he was doing. If he was going to jump into the deep end
with her he needed to know that she'd jump into the deep end with him in return. And boy
was she ready for it so with no further hesitation she agreed as he quickly climbed up on the
ledge, reaching out his hand for hers and together, hand in hand, they jumped.
