the surface to be inspected shall
be cleaned with a dry. Iint free cloth. srb-seqrenily
with a lightly rnoisrenccl clotli of clc.rcr
/ remover. The drying process shail be accomplished
by normar evaporation.

4,2 PENETRANT APPLICATION

After the parl has been cleaned, the temperature of the surfhce
and penetrant are w,ithin
the range of 600F to 1250F, the penetrant shall be sprayed
directly to the surlace r. bc
inspected by means of an aerosoicontainer, such that the
entire part or area unclcr
inspection is completely covered with penetrant.
Dwell time shall be as given in rable 2 sE 165 ASME Sec V

4,3 REMOVAL OF EXCESS PENETRANT

Afterthe required penetration dwell time, the penetrant renraining on tlie

surlhcc. shall bc
removed by wipes of clean, lint free cloth repeating the oper'fhen
lightly moisreped clotlr
solvent will be used to wipe until all the remaininglraces of excess p".n.irunt
is renro'ccl.
On removal of all excess penetrant drying shall be accomplished by normal
evaporation.
Minimum time for drying shall be one minute.

4,4 DEVELOPERAPPLICATION

The non-aqueous wet developer will be sprayed directly to the sr.rrf.ace

of the part lionr an
aerosol container' The non-aqlleous developer evaporates rapidly at room
terrperaturc.
Parts / areas shall be sprayed in a manner so as to have complele .or.,ug.
with a thin and
even film ofdeveloper.
Developer dwell time shall not be less than seven minutes.

5.0 INSPECTION

lnspection of test surfaces will be performed afier the development tinrc to assurc propcr
bleed out of penetrant from discontinuities on to the devlloper coating. 'l'o aicl
in
evaluation, the observation shall commence with the application of clevetopJr.

6.0 POST CLEANING

Post cleaning is necessary in cases where residual penetrant or dcvelopcr

coulcl iltcrl'cre
