 Now the we know about the people Media, let’s now proceed to its effects.

 A study of Andre Carol (2009), cited in Magpile’s book (2016), show that
themes of television are one of the constant source of entertainment
 On the other hand, some studies shows that profanity and obscentity
through television and movies have a direct negative influence on a child’s
behavior

And now we’re done about the people media, let’s now proceed to the second lesson, The TEXT
INFORMATION AND MEDIA

 What is text information?

It refers to information presented in the form of text, regardless of the format it
was presented In –written, printed, or displayed digitally.
Based on my understanding, It doesn’t matter what form you used as long as the
text you are sharing is informative.

 Anyway, let’s about the Use of Text Information. We all can’t deny that television and radio are
very popular nowadays, but there is still a significant number of people that prefers reading books
and here are some of the varieties of reason are below
 LEARNING/GAINING KNOWLEDGE
 ENTERTAINMENT
 RELAXATION
 COVERAGE
 Plaintext/Unformatted Text –These are fixed-sized characters having essentially the same type of
appearance SGML,HTML,XML, wiki markup, TEX,SVG are all plain text examples
 Formatted text –these are characters with format which can be change (bold, underline, italic, font size,
color, etc)

Now that we knew the different types of text and the common file format, now let’s find out the
different Types of text information
 Books –books are one of the most well-known source of text information.
 Newspaper –the most well-known being tabloids and broadsheets.
~Broadsheets –refer to newspaper that has large pages and that usually contain serious topics.
~Tabloids –a half-size newspaper thatis convienient to hold. It often assiocated with sensationalism in
the news writings.
 Magazines –remain one of the most effective media for advertising.
 The digital text –reader turn to text information which they may view using their gadgets.

Ebooks – you can put an entire bookshelf of various publication in your phone or laptop
and take themwhenever you are
Websites –websites offer a variety or textual as well as audiovisual and interactive
information which the users can access through the internet
And that’s the different types of information we often see or use these things.
I’m lazy reader but those things get my interest

Now let’s move on to Niche publications

From what I know, Niche publications are small targeted magazines, websites,
and more that focus on specific subject
 While it is the major publishing houses that produce a significant amount of text
information that the public consumes there are smaller agents which also
contribute to the growing industry

Time flies so fast we’re already at the third topic for this quarter

VISUAL INFORMATIONS AND MEDIA. Portraying

 Visual communication represents information in the form of graphics

 Magpile (2016) defined visual information as the “the artistic and creative
representative or interpretation of an ideas concept or emotion in different
using media.”
NOW LET’S FIND OUT THE DIFFERENT TYPES OF VISUAL INFORMATION

 PAINTING – refer to the act of applying paint or other medium to a surface with the use of
a brush or the product of this activity
 Photos/Images –a reproduction or limitations of the form of a person or thing in solid form.
 Scuplture –The action or art of processing plastic or hard materials into work of art
 Cartoon/comic Strip –an illustrations that are done on paper wherein a story develops by
connecting panels of illustrations
 Graphs/Charts –these are mostly used for quantitive researchers as they contain large
amount of informations in an understandable format the most important points are
highlighted in graphs and charts as visual representation of data

A. Bar graph –one of the best ways to show comparison between multiple categories with
the height it’s quantity. It’s data are represented by bars
B. Line graph –shows the relationship between multiple types of information. This graph is
specially useful for time-stamped data.
C. Pie chart –This shows the comparison of each part and how much they contribute to
form a whole.
D. Historgram –illustrated by connected bars to show frequency of cases falling within
defined columns. This can be used to measure continuous data.
E. Billboard and Poster –mostly used for advertisement and announcement targeting a
huge amount of audience an image or text on images printed in large sizes.

And that concludes the different types of graphs/charts. And now let’s move on to
Visual Information Processing. Evaluation of the variety of visual information is needed
to gauge it’s credibility and realibility as a source of information
Magpile (2016) enumerated the following criteria for evaluation of visual information
1.Use of color –visual information come in different colors and the kind used to create a
visual representation must be analyzed to know what is trying to convey here are some of
the different types of Graph/charts:
2.Used of medium –used in creating visual information is vital in analyzing it’s message.
3.Level of Creativity and artistic sense and how it will get the audience’s attention.
4.Choice of subject –This may either portray the creator’s intentions for cheating it and the
feeling behind it’s creation.
5.Choice of theme/message –Behind every element in visual information there’s a message
that the creator is letting the people indirectly receive
