Integrated Science 8: 3 members per group

1. Look for an article about an earthquake that happened in the Philippines. See to it that
no groups will choose the same event. Comment down your chosen event (First to
comment gets to secure/reserve the event).
2. Identify the salient details about the earthquake. Refer to the list below.
a. Date of occurence
b. Epicenter
c. Focus (depth if available)
d. Magnitude
e. Intensity in the affected municipality + damages and casualties
f. Intensity in the nearby municipalities + damages and casualties
g. Intensity in the nearby provinces + damages and casualties
h. Estimated cost of damages
i. Response and recovery initiatives/projects (What have been done to help rebuild
the affected communities?)

3. Individual: Each member will choose and answer ONE of the following:
a. Would you like to work for an NGO that helps people who are trapped in an
earthquake? Explain.
b. Is your home strong enough to resist an earthquake? As a family member,
how will you contribute to earthquake safety at home?
c. How can you describe earthquake and why is it important to have knowledge
about it?
