At the end of this learning activity, I would be able to:
● Formulate sensible , challenging and thought provoking questions on
pictures /situations presented

Confusion is always around in this busy and noisy world. In order to


understand and clarify things, you tend to ask questions. Asking question is a skill
that you should learn and take note that it varies from one activity/ situation to
another.

Vocabulary List
1. Question (n)- a sentence in an interrogative form, addressed to someone in
order to get information and reply
2. Sensible (adj) -having, using or showing good sense or sound judgement
3. Thought provoking (adj)- causing a person to think, stimulating careful
consideration or attention
4. Challenging (adj) -offering a challenge , testing one’s ability, endurance,
provocative

5. Forum (n) -a situation or meeting in which people can talk about a problem or
matter especially of public interest

6. Panel discussion (n) -a format used in a meeting, conference or convention


Importance of Asking Questions
● It gives you incentive and motivates you to learn something.
● It prompts and requires your listeners to give you answers.
● It allows and encourages you to explore the world and look for what you want.
● It lets you discover and finds new and innovative things.
● It drives you to keep on obtaining knowledge about a topic and eventually you
become an expert and master of it.

5 Great Reasons to Ask Questions


1. To discover something new -learning things out of your way or field
2. To put things together- giving chance to sum up and reconcile things
3. To remember things- recalling important things usually forgotten
4. To resolve issues - clarifying things to avoid confusion.
5. To understand people better- making adjustment to people and eventually love
them.

Qualities of a Sensible and Thought Provoking Questions


1. Relevant - connected and appropriate to what is being done or considered.
2. Clear - easy to understand.
3. Concise - short but with complete thoughts
4. Purposeful - showing focus.
5. Guiding but not leading- directing but not giving the exact answer.
6. Stimulates thinking – encourages thinking.
7. Single-dimensional – focuses only to one idea or direction.

How to Ask Questions


1. Use the right tone then ask questions in a casual way.
2. Pay attention to group dynamics.
3. Give the best response.
4. Decide on what to share.
5. Decide on what to keep private.
