III. INSTRUCTIONAL PROCEDURE

TEACHER’S ACTIVITY STUDENTS’ ACTIVITY

1. REVIEW

Good morning class!

Good morning sir!
Class before we move on to our
discussion for today, let’s have first a
short review regarding of what we had
discussed last meeting.

Again class, what are the materials and

tools used for fabricating formworks?

The tools and materials used for fabricating

formworks are claw hammer, pencil, pull-
push rule, steel square, try square, cross
cut saw, chalk line, safety shoes, gloves,
lumber and common wire nails.

Great! Very good!

2. ACTIVITY

Class, this time we will group yourselves into

two. Each group will do the task by following
the given direction.

Direction: Convert the following Foot/ foot to

inches.

1. 2.5 feet
2 o.6 feet
4 3.4 feet Students will do the task.
3 1.7 feet
5 1 foot

3. ANALYSIS

What is a board foot?

A board foot is means that is one inch
thick, 12 inches wide and 12 inches long.

How would you compute a board foot of a

lumber? This can be computed using the following
formulas:
Where: T = thickness
W = width
L = Lengh
” = inch/inches
’ = foot or feet
This formula is used when T”, W”, L” are
given.

T”xW”xL”
12x12

Can you give an example?

Example:

2”x2”x72 4”x72” 288”

12x12 144 144

= 2 Bd. Ft.

Very good!

How about if the given problem are being

measured in both inches and feet? What
would be the formula? The formula should be T”xW”xL’
12
Can you give an example?

Examlpe 2: 7pcs - 2”X6”X16’

Solution 2 : 7pcs (2”X6”X16’)

12
= 7pcs (12”X16’)
12
= 7pcs.(192)
12
= 1344
12
= 112 board feet

Great, very good!

4. ABSTRACTION

Again class, what is a board foot? A board foot is means that is one inch
thick, 12 inches wide and 12 inches long.

TxWxL
What is the formula used for computing 144
board feet if the given problem is being
measured in inches?
TxWxL
12
Very good! How about if the unit of
measurement being used are both inches
and feet?

Very good!

Students will do the task.

5. APPLICATION

Now class, please prepare yourselves

for we will have an individual
demonstration on how to compute a
board feet on a real lumber. Each of you
will be given a lumber.

IV. EVALUATION

Computation: Solve the board feet of the

given data.

Given:
1. 5pcs – 1”X2’’ X 14’ 1. 11.66 bd. Ft.
2. 9pcs – 4’’X4”X48” 2. 144 bd. Ft.
3. 3pcs – 1’’X2’’X9’ 3. 18 bd. Ft.
4. 12pcs – 2”x2”x36” 4. 12 bd. Ft.
5. 6pcs. – 2”x2”x6’ 5. 12 bd. Ft.
