Topic 4 : Celebrations

Learning Objectives :

1. Students should be able to improve their listening skills.

2. Students should be able to know various kind of celebrations around the world.

3. Students should be able to participate and answers in all of the activities.

3 Activities Based On PPP :

i. PRESENTATION :

1. Teacher greet the students.

2. The teacher asks the students some questions :

• What celebration do you celebrate ?


• Do you know there is other celebration besides cultural/religion celebration ?

3. Teacher introduce the students about what is celebration.

4. The teacher started to play a short video about celebrations around the world.

5. The students required to list out some of the celebrations that were shown in the
video.
ii. PRACTICE

1. The teacher divide the students into four groups with 3 representative.

2. The representatives will go infront to answer.

3. The teacher will play a descriptive video about certain celebrations. Exp : (outfits &
activity during the celebrations)

4. Representative and teammates are allow to discuss in 30 secs.

5. Students answer the described celebrations by putting on the outfits at the


mannequin.

iii. PRODUCTION

1. Teacher will divide the students into 4 Groups for roleplaying activity.

2. The teacher will handout a jar of random celebration draw to the students.

3. After draw , each group need to come infront one by one and act/roleplaying the
celebration that has been picked and let other groups guess the celebration.

4. Students will be given 3 guesses only , which will require them to listen to the roleplay
carefully.

5. Students may use hints like celebration songs & mannequin with outfits.

TEACHING AIDS EXPLAINATION

After going through primary english textbooks , i have decided to choose Year 4 english textbook (Topic
4 : Celebrations). The language skills which was focused on in my PPP activities is Listening Skills. For my
listening skills teaching aids i have decided to prepare a mannequin & videos about famous celebrations
around the world. The mannequin that was prepared will not only be plain , but i have also prepared
several outfits and decorations that represents celebrations around the world to be paired with as well.
For my presentation stage , i will begin the class with a warm greetings to my students and start with a
simple question as “what celebration do you celebrate ?’. After question warming session i will
introduce them to basic knowledges about what celebrations are. To make the students understand
better , i will proceed to play a video of famous celebrations around the world that i have edited. The
video that will be shows would not only contains religious celebrations like eid mubarak , in fact there
will be more other celebrations like halloween,birthday and more. After finish watching and listening to
the video . I will ask the students to list out some of the celebrations that has been shown previously in
the video. By doing this it would help the students in enchancing their listening and memorization skills
as well.

Next , in practice stage i will divide the students into four groups with 3 representative from their own
group. Then the representatives of their groups are required to go infront to answer later on. As a
teacher , i will then proceed the activity for this stage by playing a video/audio that describes certain
celebrations as for example their outfits and what activities that they are going to do during certain
celebrations. Representatives and teammates can discuss within 30 secs for the answer. If the students
couldn’t hear the audio very well , i will assist the students by replaying the audio or speak what the
audio describes. I personally love this activity because of it’s method of answering is slightly different as
the students need to answer the descriptive audio by putting on the outfits and decorations to the
mannequin so that it will represents the answers for the celebration that has been described.

Lastly , in the production stage , i will divide the students into 4 groups again but this time all of the
members have to participate in it as the last activity will be roleplaying , i will pass a box/jar that
contains random celebrations in it to the students for them to pick one out. After the random draw ,
each group must come to the front and roleplaying/act the celebration out with their teammates. The
other groups have to watch and listen to their roleplaying and will only be given 3 guesses each round ,
which will requires them to listen to it in order to guess it right. Hints are allowed to be used during the
activity. However mannequin with outfits can only be used as a hint after 3 wrong guesses.
