Objectives (Students)
Evidence
I will check if the students are able to do the exercises and activities correctly and
if they remember the subjects from the past lessons.
Aims (Teacher)
I will be consolidating the most recent subject (likes and dislikes) and revising all
the other subjects for the test.
Language skills
- Likes and dislikes - verb to like in the present simple - affirmative, negative and
interrogative; conjunction – but.
- There + to be;
- Question – How many… are there?
E.g.: Ollie likes orange juice but he doesn’t like coffee; How many rooms
are there?; There are four chairs; No, there aren’t three lamps; Yes, there
is a television.
Vocabulary set – Food: chips, tomato, fish, fruit, vegetables, milk, bread, butter,
orange juice, lettuce, potato, etc; House: sofa, mirror, living room, kitchen,
cupboard, toilet, stove, bed, wardrobe, attic, bathroom, etc.
Topic / Context
Anticipated problems
Some students might have some problems remembering all the subjects from the
past lessons.
Procedures:
First, a student will write the number of the lesson and date on the board.
I will ask the following question: “What’s the weather like?”, and the student will
answer orally and write it on the board.
Lead in – I will show a picture of a boy and the students will try to guess his
name. I will write the names on the board next to the picture.
Listening – The students will listen to a tape about Ollie’s likes and dislikes
concerning food. First they will listen to the tape to get familiarized with the
vocabulary and sounds and also to find out the name of the character and what
he is talking about. Then, they listen again and will have to tick the items Ollie
likes, doesn’t like, loves or hates. If necessary the students listen again.
The correction will be made orally.
Next the students will have to write sentences according to the chart. I will
give the example: “Ollie likes orange juice but he doesn’t like coffee.”
The correction will be made orally and I will write the sentences on the
board.
Then I will give the students a chart with other items and they will have to
complete it according to their preferences. Then, in pairs they will have to
complete another chart according to the partner’s preferences. The will
have to ask questions like: “Do you like pizza? Yes, I do. No, I don’t.”
After this they will have to write sentences according to their own charts
and their partners. I will take the worksheets for correction.
-----------------------------------------------------------
I will continue the lesson by systematizing the 1 st, 2nd and 3rd persons in the
affirmative and negative and also the question with the positive and negative
answers so that the students can copy it to their notebooks. I will write the
personal pronouns on the board, place a happy and a sad smile and draw some
lines. Then I’ll ask the students: Ok, let’s complete this chart… In the end, the chart
should look like this:
I will continue the lesson with some exercises and activities to help the students
revise the subjects for the test.
To revise the topic of the house, parts of the house and some objects we can find
in the house, the students will have to label a picture. I will hand out a worksheet
where the names of the parts of the house and the objects will be already written
to help the students remember. Then I’ll say that house is Ollie’s house. So let’s
find out the names of the rooms and objects in Ollie’s house.
After this, to revise the question How many… are there? and the corresponding
answers, I will give the students a worksheet and they will have to answer some
questions and also write the questions according to the answers given. This
exercise is still based on Ollie’s house.
If there’s still time left, I will deliver a worksheet with some scrambled sentences
for the students to unscramble and write others according to a chart. This
exercise’s main goal is to practise likes and dislikes.
