Potential temporary loss of all Cockpit Display Systems
_New Content
05948 / NMR / NAR
This OEB covers a significant operational issue. Non-compliance with this OEB may have a
significant impact on the operations of the aircraft. ATR recommends that operators apply
this OEB without delay.
The procedural part of this OEB is provided for insertion into the QRH.
ATR recommends that all operators rapidly incorporate the corrective Service Bulletins/
actions that cancel this OEB when they become available.
Reason for Issue: This OEB is issued to prevent potential temporary loss
of all Cockpit Display Systems
Applicable to: All aircraft fitted with Mod 05948
Canceled by:
Operations Engineering Bulletins are issued by ATR, as the need arises, to quickly transmit
new or revised operational procedures or limitations changes. They are distributed to all FCOM
holders and to others who need advice of changes to operational information. The information
in the OEB is recommended by ATR. It is not approved by Airworthiness Authorities. If the
procedures contained in this OEB differ from the procedures in the AFM, the AFM remains the
reference.
This OEB is issued to provide operators with operational recommendations following reported
in-service events of temporary loss of all Cockpit Display Systems (including IESI) caused by
temporary loss of electrical power supply.
The below procedure aims at preventing a potential loss of all Cockpit Display Systems by
activating the Transformer Rectifier Unit (TRU) during the “BEFORE TAXI” Normal
procedure and deactivating the TRU during the “AFTER LANDING” Normal procedure.
The activation of the TRU limits the impact of such electrical failure event by maintaining the
power supply of :
- DC EMER BUS,
- DC ESS BUS,
- DC STBY BUS,
- AC STBY BUS.
Consequently, in case of such electrical failure, DC GEN 1+2 FAULT Emergency procedure
triggers and must be applied.
Additional information :
As the TRU will be used continuously during the flight, in case of TRU failure :
Cockpit effects :
- AUTO-PILOT (AP) disconnection (If AP is engaged when the failure occurs),
Note: AP remains available.
- TRU arrow light comes off (on overhead panel)
Note: This can be confirmed by checking TRU status on AC-DC Electrical SD
system page.
Flight crew action :
- No crew action is required.
- Maintenance action will be required at destination.
Procedure:
To prevent the temporary loss of all Cockpit Display Systems (including IESI), the TRU must be set
ON during the “Before Taxi” Procedure and must be set OFF during the “After Landing” Procedure.
Use of “BEFORE TAXI” and “AFTER LANDING” Electronic Check Lists is prohibited.
The flight crew must use the QRH.
