NAILON ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

Pursuant to Division Memorandum No. 0037, s. 2024 also known as 20 th National Dental
Health Month Celebration, Nailon Elementary School headed by the School Principal, Mrs.
Sarah P. Mejares, together with the Assistant to the Principal Sir Alvener Cordero, teaching
and non-teaching personnel, parents and learners celebrated the whole month of February
2024 as National Dental Health Month. This month-long celebration’s main objective is to
continuously raise awareness about the importance of children’s oral health.
One of the activities conducted by the school is the updating and posting of dental health
advocacy materials in prominent and visible areas in the classroom and school clinic. Teachers
printed downloaded materials and posted it on their respective classroom bulletin board.
Regular toothbrushing is important for both children and adults. It helps to remove the
bacteria and plaque that cause tooth decay and gum disease. It is recommended that
everybody should brush their teeth every after meals. It’s good for children to start having
their teeth brushed early so that they see tooth brushing as part of their daily routine.
Children will need help and encouragement to develop this new skill. Learning and practicing
the habit of tooth brushing is a good practice for all of us. It also helps us to look good and
maintains our good health. Keeping us healthy will help us to do better in all performances
and activities.
To celebrate the National Dental Health Month at home, learners were also encouraged to
brush their teeth. This activity was relayed through group chats and through parents during
the distribution of cards. Learners took pictures doing the toothbrushing and sent it to their
teachers or group chats in support with the month-long celebration.
Overall, the National Dental Health Month Celebration of Nailon Elementary School was
successful.
