Lesson Title: “Describing Motion ”
Session Objectives: At the end of the session, learners will be able to:
1. Explain the importance of motion.
2. Show compassion performing tasks assigned to the group.
3. Develop an appreciation on the role of visual representation tool in
describing motion.
Key Concepts: Acceleration refers to the rate of change in speed or velocity of an object. It is
expressed when speed or direction both change. It tells how quick an object
speeds up or slows down.

How can we say that an object is accelerating?


1. The speed of the object is changing.
- A cyclist is travelling with a speed from 60 km/h to 40 km/h.
2. The direction of the object is changing.
- A dog is running 3m/s East, then 3m/s North.
3. The speed and direction of the object is changing.
- A man is running 5m/s East, then 10m/s South.

Health Education 20 mins
Change in speed or velocity in a given period of time is known as
acceleration. Extreme acceleration can have various effects on the
human body, depending on the direction, magnitude, and duration of
the acceleration.

Some potential effects include:


1. Nausea and Disorientation: Rapid acceleration can lead to feelings
of nausea, disorientation, and dizziness.
2. Muscle Strain: Muscles, especially in the neck and core, may
experience strain due to the forces exerted on the body.
3. Barotrauma: Changes in pressure due to rapid acceleration can
cause barotrauma, leading to ear and sinus pain or injury.
4. Cardiovascular Stress: Extreme acceleration can stress the
cardiovascular system, potentially causing heart rate and blood
pressure changes.
5. Bone and Joint Stress: The skeletal system can experience stress,
potentially leading to joint and bone injuries.

6. Vision Disturbances: High G-forces can cause temporary vision


disturbances, including tunnel vision or gray-out.
