CATCH-UP FRIDAYS

DAILY LESSON LOG

I. General Overview
Catch-up Subject: Peace Education Grade Level: 7
Quarterly Theme: Compassion Sub-theme: (Community Awareness)

Time: (Science) Date: February 23, 2024

II. Session Details
Lesson Title: “Describing Motion ”
Session Objectives: At the end of the session, learners will be able to:
1. Explain the importance of motion.
2. Show compassion performing tasks assigned to the group.
3. Develop an appreciation on the role of visual representation tool in
describing motion.
Key Concepts: Acceleration refers to the rate of change in speed or velocity of an object. It is
expressed when speed or direction both change. It tells how quick an object
speeds up or slows down.

How can we say that an object is accelerating?

1. The speed of the object is changing.
- A cyclist is travelling with a speed from 60 km/h to 40 km/h.
2. The direction of the object is changing.
- A dog is running 3m/s East, then 3m/s North.
3. The speed and direction of the object is changing.
- A man is running 5m/s East, then 10m/s South.
III. Facilitation Strategies
Components Duration Activities and Procedures

Are you familiar on what do we call this kind of visuals?

Diagrams are visual representations that use pictures or symbols to

Introduction and illustrate and explain an idea or information.

How about these?

Motion Graphs (also Line Graphs) are a visual representation that

uses lines to show how two or more sets of measurements are related
to each other.
Concept 20 minutes Activity 3. Analyzing Motion Graphs
Exploration Match each description to its appropriate graph.

1. A boy running for 20 minutes then stops to rest.

2. A rock placed on top of a table.
3. A car moving uphill (upward).
4. A child sliding down the slide.

5. A moving vehicle suddenly stops and remain at rest for some time.

Continues speeding up of vehicle means they are accelerating there is

a change of speed or velocity as they are travelling.

Speeding endangers not only the life of the speeder, but all of the
people on the road around them, including law enforcement officers.
It is a problem we all need to help solve.
.
A. Study the picture

Peace Education 20 mins

1. Why do you think some drivers speeding up?

2. What do you think will happen if the driver continuously
speeding up in highways?

Speeding is more than just breaking the law. The consequences are
far-ranging:

 Greater potential for loss of vehicle control;

 Reduced effectiveness of occupant protection equipment;
 Increased stopping distance after the driver perceives a
danger;
 Increased degree of crash severity leading to more severe
injuries;
 Economic implications of a speed-related crash; and
 Increased fuel consumption/cost.

Materials: A4 bond paper, writing tools, coloring materials.

Journal Writing 15 mins  Draw a situation in an A4 bond paper that you are using
acceleration in your daily life routine.
