CATCH-UP FRIDAYS

DAILY LESSON LOG

I. General Overview
Catch-up Subject: Values Education Grade Level: 7
Quarterly Theme: Compassion Sub-theme:

Time: (Science) Date: February 02, 2024

II. Session Details
Lesson Title: “Describing Motion”
Session Objectives: At the end of the session, learners will be able to:
1. Explain the importance of motion.
2. Show compassion performing tasks assigned to the group.
3. Develop an appreciation on the role of distance and displacement
in disaster risk reduction from natural calamities.
Key Concepts:  In physics, motion is a change in the position of an object over time.
It is the action or process of moving or of changing place or position,
or a movement.
 Motion is described in terms of displacement, distance, velocity,
acceleration, time and speed.

III. Facilitation Strategies

Components Duration Activities and Procedures
Introduction and 10 minutes Activity:
Warm Up Materials: Pictures of the dog

Display a figure shown above and let the students answer the
following questions:
 How far did the dog travel from its point of
origin to its 1st destination? In what direction?
 How far did the dog travel from its 1st
destination to its 2nd destination? In what
direction?
 How far did the dog travel from its 2nd
destination to its 3rd and final destination? In
what direction?
 What is the total length traveled by the dog

from its point of origin to its final

destination?
 What is the shortest distance of the dog
relative to its points of origin?

Activity #1. Paper Plane

Perform the following activity:
Materials: paper, meter stick, notebook and ballpen
Procedure:
 Divide the class into 4 groups.
 Let the students make a paper plane and let them throw it
3 times to measure the distance it travels.
Concept
20 minutes  Let the students devise ways to easily measure distance.
Exploration
 The teacher may check the nonstandard measurement of
student. Using appropriate measuring device (meter
stick), students will gather data that will be needed in the
traces of the paper plane.
 Make sure to take down notes of the different landing
area and marks, corners it pass by.

Activity: Presenting Outputs

Materials: Student’s Output

 Have each group present their findings to the class.
 Let the group explain the importance of distance and
displacement.
 Encourage the learners to share the importance of
knowing their distance and displacement from different
locations that is prone to calamities like typhoon and
earthquake just like the given scenario.
Peace Education 20 mins

Distance and displacement are very relevant in times of natural

disaster. In example, the Super Typhoon Yolanda brought about
storm surge dealing immeasurable damage both in property and
life to Region VIII. People were displaced and relocated to
housing projects as an effect. One of the bases of these
relocation projects is the distance and displacement of these
houses relative to the shorelines and gathered data regarding
the extent of the storm surge.

Materials: A4 bond paper, writing tools, coloring materials.

Journal Writing 15 mins
 Draw a situation in an A4 bond paper that you are using
