DAILY DETAILED LESSON PLAN (DLP)

S.Y. 2023-2024

School LAMPAYAN NHS Grade Level 8

Teacher LOVELY SHIENA C. ARAGONCILLO - HECHANOVA Learning Area SCIENCE
Teaching Dates NOVEMBER 14, 2023 Quarter SECOND
Time 7:45 – 8:45 AM
Section HECHANOVA

I. OBJECTIVES
The learners demonstrate an understanding of the propagation of sound
A. Content Standards
through solid, liquid and gas.
The learner shall be able to develop a writer plan and implement a “Newton’s
B. Performance Standards
Olympics”.
C. Learning Competencies The learner shall be able to infer how the movement of particles of an object
(Write the LC Code for each) affect the speed of sound through it (S8FE –Ie-24).
At the end of the 60-minnute period, the learners should be able to:
distinguish the different characteristics of waves;
Cognitive:
determine their frequency and wavelength;
D. Specific Objectives compute the wave speed based on the frequency and
Psychomotor:
wavelength; and
express appreciation for sound for making our lives better
Affective:
and more comfortable;
II. CONTENT SOUND

IV. PROCEDURES Preliminary Activities: Prayer, Greetings, Checking of Attendance, Setting of
Classroom Standards, and Passing of Assignments
ELICIT
Access prior knowledge.
A. Reviewing previous lesson or Differentiate the propagation of sound in solid, liquid and in gas
presenting the new lesson.
B. Establishing a purpose for the Students will be asked to produce sound by:
lesson.
● whispering;

● singing; and

● shouting.
ENGAGE
Get the students’ minds focus on the topic.
C. Presenting illustrative Ask them how sound differ in the three situations.
examples/instances of the lesson.
EXPLORE Do the activity on, Lesson Guide G-8 First Quarter pp. 58-59 or
Provide students with common experience LM pp75 -77
D. Discussing new concepts and
practicing new skills #1.
E. Discussing new concepts and
practicing new skills #2.
EXPLAIN 1. When there are more waves passing through the reference point
Teaching the concept. in a period of time, which wave characteristic also increases?
F. Developing mastery 2. When there are more waves passing through the reference point
(guides formative assessment). in a period of time, what happens to the wavelength of the
waves?
G. Finding practical applications of Discuss the importance of Doppler effect in daily occurrences.
concepts and skills in daily living.
ELABORATE
Students apply the information learned.
● Sound differ from one another in loudness, intensity, pitch and quality.
H. Making generalizations and Sound waves have frequency, wavelength and speed.
abstractions about the lesson ● Loudness depends on the amplitude of vibration.

● Intensity depends on the amplitude of vibration and the area of vibrating

body perpendicular to the direction of wave motion.
● Pitch depends on the frequency of vibration. Pitch is the frequency of a
sound as perceived by human ear. A high frequency gives rise to a high
pitch note and a low frequency produces a low pitch note. Figure 2 shows
the frequencies of same common sounds. The pitch of sound goes up and
down.
● Sound quality distinguishes one sound from another.
EVALUATE Word search: Find word or words that are related to sound
Know if the students learned the concept.
