First Time Manager Programme at HEL and DIL
As we scale up from an Individual
Contributor role to the next level, and
transition into the new role of managing
others, it throws a lot of challenges in
front of us, and over a period of time, how
well we perform in the new role,

embarking upon this journey, the
institute was pleased to be giving back to
society by extending its resources for the
upliftment of the students of Chunakhali
Hatkhola. For the same, the institute
offered three computer systems as an
initiative to set up the very first “Digital
Classroom” in the Sundarban region.
The inaugural session of the Digital
Classroom took place on the 26th of

September, 2022, and was felicitated by
the presence of many eminent people of
the area. The occasion, organised on the
birth anniversary of the Father of Bengali
Prose, Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar,
witnessed the glory of many soulful
performances by the students of the area.

“Kumki” elephants at HML-Mooply Valley Plantation
The wild elephant menace is alarming at
HML – Mooply Valley Rubber
Plantation. An estate worker died from
the attack of the wild elephants last year.
The elephants are creating panic inside
the plantation and also destroying the
rubber trees and buildings. The company
has laid a solar electrical fence around the
estate boundary at a stretch of more than
20 km to prevent the ingress of wild
elephants but wild elephants often
destroy the electrical fence and enter the
fields.
In order to push back the wild elephants,
the forest department has brought two
“Kumki” elephants and a team of 13
trained staff from the Rapid Response
Team, Wayanad. The term “Kumki” is
