Nidhi: Hi mam! We are grp 4 and we are here to present our review 1!

With the lockdown and prevalence of mobile phones and texting we have realized a culture
shock that results in some blending in seamlessly while others being left out of many
conversations and hangouts just because they don't take part in the conversations.

All humans have ideas and opinions, however, not everyone can express them due to a lack of
crucial communication skills. By apprehending these thoughts repeatedly we believe that
overtime one’s mental health may be affected. Thus we want to explore the hypothesis and
accrue more knowledge about this problem through research.

We will first explain our

Hypothesis and the Thesis
Then we will take a look at our questionnaire and its setup
Finally we will look at the analysis of the questionnaire and break it down
Finally we will discuss about our reference material

Santhandeep:
Our hypotheses are
1) Does a lack of communication cause mental health problems
2) Do factors such as stress and anxiety negatively affect communication
skills

And our thesis is as follows:

Lack of communication skills and its effects on mental health

Krishna:
SO what are the problems we faced in getting the responses for the review?
Well here they are.
1) First we didn't get the needed number of responses to make a proper inference of the
data, so we had to get the questionnaire out to a lot of people through social media.
2) The second problem we faced was the quality of the responses, because 136 of our
respondents were of the ages 17-20 thus we thought we would narrow our research
down to this age group and we will promptly change the analysis and hypothesis to
match our responses.
Sanidhya:
3) Finally, we did not get enough questions from our psychology book for a complete
research and analysis, so we had to improvise and add the DASS-21 questionnaire as a
section 2 of our questionnaire
4) We also had initial problems finding articles and prior researches done specifically on
this topic relating communication skills and mental health
Nikitha:
The expected responses from the questionnaire gave us a good indication that we were on the
right track

For the preference in the type of communication the majority of the people said face to face
which made sense given that the lockdown has made everyone envy the old ways.
Also given that the natural tendency of humans as a species is to have social interactions this
response just proved that.

With the question regarding personal jokes, our main focus was on the people who answered a
number that was small, specifically less than 2 as these people can be assumed to have a small
circle and thus this may affect the analysis of their DASS 21 responses
