1 Exposure Menu
The Exposure Menu is a menu name given for each individual study.
This, for example, shows a unique study name, such as “CHEST, FRN”.
* The default value for this menu can be changed by User Utility settings.
2 MPM Code
The MPM Code is a four-digit code number assigned for the purpose of management of exposure menus.
The MPM Code determines EDR (a function that corrects image density and contrast automatically) and image
processing conditions to be applied. If the assigned MPM Code is the same, images will be output according to the
same conditions even though the Exposure Menu used is not the same.
➤ Note that when an Exposure Menu (for example, SKULL, FRN: MPM Code 0000) was subjected to change of image processing
conditions, changed image processing conditions will affect all the menus concerned if there is an Exposure Menu of the same
MPM Code (TOWNE, for example). Should you wish to change the image processing condition only for the specified menu,
change the 3rd digit figure to make it different from the previous MPM Code so that specific conditions are set up appropriately.
4 Menu Description
The Menu Description describes anatomical parts and exposure techniques suited to a specific exposure menu.
Brief precautions to be observed when performing exposures are also included. For details of those precautions to
be observed, see “3.4 Precautions for Exposure / DR Console Operation Manual (M517-E102)”.
When creating a new menu
A new menu can be created by the User Utility.
(For how to create a new menu, see “DR Console User Utility Operation Manual (M517-E103)”.)
For a special exposure that cannot be handled by a default exposure menu, the menu can be extended as necessary.
When doing so, try to select an exposure menu that involves similar images. Set up an unused MPM Code and
determine proper image processing conditions. Also confirm that AP or PA is selected correctly.
When doing so, see [The User Utility Operations] to make sure that the MPM code to be used for extension of a new
menu is not used.
5 Function
Basically, the Function has been set to “RT” (Routine Mode).
RT : This is a mode where the S and L values are determined for each shot.
S Value
image. The S value corresponds to the center value on the histogram of
L Value

a digital image in process of the conversion processing.
L value : This value represents the width of X-ray signals read to displaying
images. The L value is represented by a logarithmic value.
1 EDR Mode
EDR mode consists of AUTO mode, SEMI AUTO mode and FIX mode, details of which are described below.
A (AUTO mode) : Adjusts density and contrast automatically.
(S and L values are dependent on this mode.)
S (SEMI AUTO mode) : A mode where the dynamic Range (L value) of X-ray dose to be recorded as
an image has been determined, and the center point (S value) used for the
purpose of image recording is decided based on the average X-ray dose that
enters the measurement area so that the density is adjusted automatically.
F (FIX mode) : A mode where the range of X-ray dose to be recorded as an image has been
determined.
* Default settings for this mode can be changed by User Utility. It is also possible to change default settings by a
currently used mode.
3 Semi Fix —Parameters used in SEMI AUTO mode and FIX mode—
TYPE······· Determines layout and size of a photometric area preset in SEMI AUTO mode.
I : A 10cm square located at the center of an image cropped out from the DR Exposure Unit.
II : A 7cm square located at the center of an image cropped out from the DR Exposure Unit.
III :A 5cm square located at the center of an image cropped out from the DR Exposure Unit.
III´ :
A 5cm square located at a position other than the center of an IP when it is divided into nine portions up-
and-down and right-and-left.
IV : A special area determined for the Chest.
