Name: TUMACDER, DANICA HANNAH MAE L.

Course: BSED 3B-FILIPINO
Class Code: E0014
Module Number and Title: IM NO.5 Critical Attributes of the 21st Century Education

I. LEARNING ACTIVITIES:

1. As a future educator, how can you make your classroom a global community?
(15 pts)

First and foremost, as a forthcoming 21st century educator, I can successfully make
my classroom a global community if I, as a teacher, am adaptable and flexible in facing
these changes in our society that influence our education, which means I must have a
global perspective within my classroom. My students will perceive the world as an
interconnected community that shares technical and human experiences regardless of
language, culture, tradition, status, and political or religious perspectives when they
become global digital citizens. Aside from that, as a language teacher I can easily make
my classroom into a global community by incorporating musical plays of different race
into my lesson especially on awiting bayan and dula because in this way, they will
appreciate and be familiar with the different literary works of other culture. Allowing my
students to conduct research and write papers on concepts such as language, cultures,
customs and beliefs, and costumes of various ethnic origins is a pathway for them to gain
a deeper understanding as well as experience it themselves. In this manner,
learners are more likely to adapt and embrace other cultures as well, rather than
centering just on their own.

2. What are the advantages and disadvantages of integrated curriculum? (you may
use a web or chart) (15 pts.)

II. EVALUATION

Choose one from the Quick and Easy Interdisciplinary Activities and describe how
you will sort out this in your classroom. (10 pts)

I would choose the World Traveler activity from the six (6) quick and easy
interdisciplinary activities provided on the module. This activity applies to me since I am
both a language and a literary teacher. Therefore, this interdisciplinary activity can be
incorporated into the teaching of both local and international literature, making the class
more engaging and exciting than usual.

As we're amid a pandemic and going to field trips, exhibits, and library searches are
strictly prohibited, students cannot authentically experience other people's cultures. So,
to make these activities effective without requiring learners to leave their homes, I, as a
teacher, may simply devise travel-themed lectures in which I can dig literature and
language from many places and countries. Students can explore and develop their inner
artist through travel-themed lectures, including painting, writing, fashion, and many more,
as well as embrace cultural identities and the love to travel. I can also include interesting
activities in my travel-themed lessons such that my students may have fun while learning
skills like budgeting, geography, and planning. Although there may be barriers and limited
experience, technology provides endless resources. Students may not be able to visit
these locations and experience them personally, but by implementing these
interdisciplinary activities into their lessons, they can develop the compassion and
openness needed to accept and adapt across diverse cultural backgrounds.
