Now we proceed to our lesson. Our topic
today is all about different types of sewing tools
and equipments.
 We all know that we can’t sew a cloths’

We need tools and equipments to construct
well fitted clothes.

for the right tools at the right time. All tools
must be appropriate in a proper order and
one must know how to use them to save time
and effort to be able to produce the best
result.  Measuring Tools/Cutting Tools/
 Sewing tools are classified into 5 Drafting Tools/Marking tools/Sewing
classifications. What are those? Tools

 Very good, the first classification of tools is  Measuring tools- are tools that used

measurements at hemlines, button holes and
areas where other small measurements

 The 3rd type of measuring tools is

RULER
 Ruler- is tool use for measuring and

drawing straight seam lines and cutting
lines.
 What else?
 Ruler- is also aids in connecting lines.
 Very well said.
 Next measuring tools is

 Yard stick/meter stick- is use to

measure fabric and to check grain line.

because it will not give an accurate cut line of
the fabric. (Demonstrate how to use pinking
shear)
 What is this? (Showing pictures) and what its
uses?  Trimming Scissors- 6 inch long scissors
used for trimming and clipping seams
and for general use.

TRIMMING SCISSORS
 Very well said, next is

THREAD CLIPPER
 Thread Clipper are handy little spring loaded

square as a measuring tools right?  Yes ma’am
 Don’t be confuse, L-square can be use as
measuring tools and drafting tools.
 For drafting tools- it is used in connecting a
straight line. It helps to create accurate 90°
angles and straight edges.
 Do you understand class?
 Ok very good, we go to the next drafting tools.  Very well ma’am.

 Next drafting tools is

CURVE RULER  Curve ruler- is a drafting device use for

 What is a Curve ruler? connecting or shaping slightly curve
lines.

 The last type drafting tool is Tracing Paper/  Tracing paper/Drafting Paper- is a
Drafting Paper piece o paper where the design and
measurement are being drawn or
written. The cut darting paper use in
lying out on fabrics.

What is tracing paper/drafting paper?

Ok very well said then.

 The 4th Classification of sewing tools is  Marking tools- are tools use to

marking tools elements
 The first type of marking tools is  Tracing wheel is Pointed and very
sharp teeth wheel transfers marking
onto a clean sheet of paper. This tool is
often used when retracing patterns or
when transferring the guidelines in
pattern paper into the fabrics.

 A color of tracing paper should be chosen that

is close to the color of the fabric. Different
brands of tracing paper have different
instructions; therefore, the instructions for the
particular brand that is purchased should be
followed.
 Take note class the tracing wheel and  Yes ma’am.

(Demonstrate on how to use the tracing wheel
and carbon paper/tracing paper)
 Another type of marking tools is

 Tailor’s chalk- This is essential as a

marker for use on materials. Tailor’s

fabric used.
 Sewing Needle threader- It aids in
putting the thread to the needle

 It consists of two parts. The handle and

the wire. The end of the wire that is away
from the holder is folded. Place the folded
wire of the needle threader through the
eye of the sewing needle.

 These one is called Thimble

for protection on the finger that
pushes the needle in sewing.
 Next is Pins

 Pins- use in cutting fabrics and sewing

materials to avoid the moving of the

 Very good, Dull-pointed and rusted pins
should not be used because they will destroy
the fabric.
 The partner of Pins are Pin cushion

 Pin cushion-A pincushion holds the

straight pins and needles while
working to prevent accidents.
What is pin cushion?
 The Last and the most important tools is the
Sewing machine. What is sewing machine?
 Sewing machine -is equipment used to
stitch fabric and other materials
together with thread.

In a modern sewing machine the fabric easily

glides in and out of the machine without the
inconvenience of needles and thimbles and other
such tools used in hand sewing, automating the
process of stitching and saving time.
 Do you understand our lesson class?
 Any questions?
 Yes ma’am
4. APPLICATION  No ma’am.
 Ok very good, now go back to same group you
belong. And give the corresponding name of the  Students Working
