LEARNING EPISODE 1
THE SCHOOL ENVIRONMENT

INTENDED LEARNING OUTCOME

 At the end of this episode, I must be able to determine the characteristics of a school
environment that is safe, secure and is supportive learning.

Exploring the School Campus

Resource Teacher: Jonathan Manayan Teacher’s Signature_______________

School: Echague National High School. Grade/Year Level: Senior High School
Subject Area: UCSP AND TRENDS Date: November 20, 2021
To realize the Intended Learning Outcome, work my way through these steps:

1. Visit a school. Look into facilities and support learning areas in the campus, then in the
classroom.
2. Observe and use the checklist as you move around the school premises.
3. Analyse your gathered data about the school environment.
4. Reflect on the characteristics of a school environment that promotes learning.
5. Present your idea of a good school environment through any of these

a) Descriptive paragraph b) Photo essay

c) Sketch or drawing d) Poem, song or rap

As you move around the campus, observations forms are provided for you to document your
observations. It is advised that you read the entire worksheet before proceeding to the school site. A
good understanding of the activities and tasks to be accomplished in the activity sheets will yield
better learning results.

How do the school campus and the classroom in particular impact the learning of the students going to
school? What are your conclusions?
One of the main issues that some schools are wanting to be solved and waiting for the response
coming from the government specifically in DEPED is the lack of facilities that can accommodate
large numbers of the students. Some sections has 60 above students and upon checking to the space of
the room, students are really crowded which is not conducive for learning. Aside from that they are
also lack of chairs and since they are crowded it cause the rooms a bad smell and a hot environment
which affects every students and even the teachers to continue their classes.
Aside from the problems and issues that the school has, I believe that Schools really contribute in
developing the well being of the students, aside from the learnings that they can get from their
teachers and from the books, the interaction and the bonds they created to their fellow students is what
also matters. It added the life learnings of the students that really inspires them to continue striving
and making their dreams come true. Schools really prepares students to their future path in life.
How does this relate to your knowledge of child and adolescent development/How does this relate to
your knowledge of facilitating learning?

As a future Educator and Social Studies instructor someday,it is good that I am allowing myself to
engage in some activities that talks about DIVERSITY. I have to immersed myself that my future
students are diverse, they are differ on how they learn, some of them can learn through visual, some
them through audio so it is my job s a teacher to think and look for a strategies that is engaging in
accordance to what type of learner they are, I have to adjust my approach, my teaching style that can
help my students to better understand the topic that I am going to teach.
More importantly is the CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT , since we talk about diversity we cannot
deny the fact that some of the students acts in contrary to their age, some of them behave well and
some of them have an uncontrollable behavior, so as their teacher I have to asses my students what
causes to have such behavior, counsel them properly and more importantly lower my temper as it
possibly trigger students negatively.

10
S

1. Would you like to teach in the school environment you just observed? Why?
Honestly speaking at first I was so excited that I was assigned here at ENHS since it is near to my
boarding house but on my first day of my FIELD STUDY I felt so exhausted because I didn‟t expect
what kind of students I have to observed and handle since I was the one who choose what year level I
am going to observed, I choose SHS because I was expecting that they behave well and they will
listened whatever information or instruction I am going to share. But if I will assigned here again on
my Practice Teaching, I will put my hundred percent on it, because it is my vocation, this is what I
want to do and as teachers we have to equipped ourselves from the diversity of learners. What really
matter is I was able to instill knowledge to my future students and they actually learned from me and
by having that it will be manifested to how effective I am as a teacher.
2. What kind of school campus is conducive to learning?
A school that provides the needs of the students, help them develop holistically. Providing them
facilities that seeks to enhance the skills, ability and intellectual capability of the students. Ensuring
that every teachers delivers knowledge to their students effectively. It also considers the learning
environment which plays a vital role in learning or in considering that it is conducive for learning.
3. What kind of classroom is conducive to learning?
A number of classrooms that caters the large of numbers of the students and an effective teachers
which successfully provide learning‟s to its students. Considering to its space it must be wide enough
for students, once the lack of classroom has been solved, we can limit every students per section or
per room and by doing that teachers can successfully cater its students according to its capabilities as
teacher. Most specially helping the students in realizing that they are diverse, once they fully
understand the uniqueness of every students it help us to prevent discrimination inside of the
classroom.

4. In the future, how can you accomplish your answer in number 3?

Coordinate with the different Education Sector of our country, sharing them the issues and problems
that needs to be addressed. Providing seminars for teachers which equipped, prepares them to become
competent professionals. And if possible strengthen the Parents and Teachers Association, where we
could get possibly sponsors, projects that seeks to provides the needs of the school and the needs of
the students.

5. Write your additional learning and insights here.

Teaching is a noblest profession, they are the ones who molds every students prepares them for their
dream profession. It is not just a job but it is more of a vocation. Not enduring the difficulties of being
a teacher, sacrificing their own personal time just to make time with their students. The most fulfilling
moment of being teacher is being served as their second parent, our job does not just revolves around
on what is included in the textbooks but instilling them life lesson, words of encouragement and
boosting their confidence in achieving their dreams.

The display board, or what we more commonly refer to as bulletin board, is one of the most readily
available and versatile learning resources.

To achieve the Intended Learning Outcomes, work your way through these steps:
1. Examine for bulletin board displays. Include samples of those found at the entrance,
lobby, hallways and classrooms
2. Pick one and evaluate the display.
3. Propose enhancements to make the display more effective

As you look around and examine board displays, use the observation guide and forms provided for
you to document your observations.
An Observation Guide for BOARD DISPLAYS

Read the following carefully before you observe.

1. Go around the school and examine the board displays. How many board display you see'?
2. Where are the display boards found? Are they in places where target viewers can see them?
3. What are the displays about? What key messages do they convey? What images and colors do you
see? How are the pieces of information and images arranged?
4. What materials were used in making the displays? Are borders used?

Since there is a policy mandated by the DEPED, board display are being cleared in classrooms. But
there are still display that are not yet cleared and some of them has incomplete information.
And since this is one of the important display that should be present in school for it gives awareness I
think they need to lay out again to a more presentable, informative and education display.

1. While you were observing the learners, did you recall your own experiences when you were
at their age what similarities or differences do you have with the learners you observed?
If I am going to compare my generation to this generation, it has really a big difference,. At first I was
so excited because finally we will experience the real life scenario of being a teacher, this will show
us a glimpse of what is happening inside of the school. And as I am on the process of observing, I had
reminisce how my life as student before and I compare it with the life of the students based on what I
observed from them.
I wanted to go back to the times that I am still enjoying my high school life where the pressure had
less impacted me as I am a breadwinner of my family, I wanted to go back to the times where I‟ve
known myself , I know it is a little bit dramatic but it is real. Enjoying every moment with your
classmates, you just enjoying the life of being an high school student where no one is pressuring you
to become the person that they want you to be, now that I am in college, the pressure is getting more
serious and what is worst is the pressure that you feel within yourself.

2. Think of a teacher you cannot forget for positive or negative reasons. How did she/he help or
not help you with your needs (physical, emotional, social, and cognitive)? How did it affect
you?
The influence of a teacher can never be erased. The very reason why I choose Education, why
teaching is my dream profession and why Social Studies? It is because of one important person that is
really close to my heart and that is my adviser when I was in Grade 11 , she really inspires me to
pursue this course, to choose this major, actually at first my favorite subject is Filipino, this is where I
know I am good at because I like to write speeches “Talumpati in tagalog” I really like to deliver
motivation and informational speeches that my audice can learn and be entertain to how I perform.
But when I took Humanities and Social Science as my SHS Strand, it open my eyes to the realities of
the world, it encourages me to learn more about society and this actually deepen my understanding
about our individual issues in life or in every aspect of our society.

Every student in a classroom behaves differently, therefore it is your job as the instructor to know
how to cope with this behavior. The instructor is responsible for correcting the students' improper
behaviour and for teaching them the proper ones. It's important to develop students' classroom
behavior well. Teachers are constantly accountable for the growth of their students; they have a duty
to mold them correctly and to meet their educational demands.

The learners‟ differences and the type of interaction they bring surely affect the quality of teaching
and learning. This activity is about observing and gathering data to find out how student diversity
affects learning.

To realize the Intended Learning Outcomes, work your way through these steps:
Step 1. Observe a class in different parts of a school day. (Beginning of the day, class time, recess,
etc.)

24
S

Step 2. Describe the characteristics of the learners in terms of age, gender, and social and cultural
diversity.
Step 3. Describe the interaction that transpires inside and outside the classroom.
Step 4. Interview your Resource Teacher about the principles and practices that she uses in dealing
with diversity in the classroom.
Step 5. Analyze the impact of individual differences on learners' interactions. The observation form is
provided for me to document my observations.

An Observation Guide for the Learners' Characteristics

Read the following carefully before you begin to observe. Then write your
observation report on the space provided on the next page.

1. Find out the number of students. Gather data as to their ages, gender, racial groups,
religious, and ethnic backgrounds.

During class:
1. How much interaction is there in the classroom? Describe how the students interact with one
another and with the teacher. Are there groups that interact more with the teacher than others.
2. Observe the learners seated at the back and the front part of the room. Do they behave and interact
differently?
3. Describe the relationship among the learners. Do the learners cooperate with or compete against
each other?
4. Who among the students participate actively? Who among them ask for most help?
5. When a student is called and cannot answer the teacher‟s question, do the classmates try to help
him? Or do they raise their hands, so that the teacher will call them instead?

Outside class:
1. How do the students group themselves outside class? Homogeneously, by age?
by gender? by racial or ethnic groups? By their interests? Or are the students in mixed social
groupings? If so, describe the groupings.

2. Notice students who are alone and those who are not interacting. Describe their behavior.

Interview the teachers and ask about their experience about learners in difficult Circumstances.
Request them to describe these circumstances and how it has affected the learners. Ask about the
strategies they use to help these learners cope.

Ask the teachers about strategies they apply to address the needs of diverse students due to the
following factors:
 Gender, including LGBT
Acceptance and understanding, this I how I address and interact to my students who
are members of the rainbow flag community. By accepting them, accepting real gender identity
will help feel that are not left behind, that they are belong. Leading the students to fully
understand what they going through, teaching them the value of respect and teaching them they
are also human, who should be given an acknowledge about their rights that they should exercise.

25
S

 Language and cultural differences

Given that there are some students whose mother tongue are differ from the other students,
there are times that my language are differ from my students and that is where language barrier
and misunderstanding happnes. I am addresing this issue by simple taking into conisderation that
I have to learn there dialect. Because there are some words that humiliates and disrespect me as a
teacher that i do not know the meaning of the words.
 Differences in religion
There are debates about religion that happens in some of the students. Allowing myself learn
nd understand about the different religion will help me understand and respect the practices and
the belief systems of my students.
 Socio-economic status
The eagerness of the students to go to school encourages me and influenced me to love my
profession. I look for ways to extend my help to them, whether that would be financial, helping
them to overcome their problems and fears, motivating them everyday regardless of how difficult
for them to go to school empty handed.

During class:

1. How much interaction is there in the classroom? Describe how the students interact with
one another and with the teacher. Are there groups that interact more with the teacher than
others.
The job of a teacher is not just revolves around teaching because it is more than that, a teacher
creates a family within the four corners of the room. As I am having my observation, I had witnessed
how the teachers creates bonds with their students but not forgetting the boundaries or limitations that
they needed to follow and meet. The closeness of the students to their teachers makes the class session
more interesting and enjoyable. With regards to numbers of the students per section, a large number
hinders a teachers to deliver a more effective and interactive session, I think the best way to address
students from making any unnecessary noises is to create a seat plan that designates students to their
proper seat where it prevents from talking to their classmate who is close to them.

2. Observe the learners seated at the back and the front part of the room. Do they behave and
interact differently?
Some students doesn‟t wants to seat in front since the teacher will easily monitor their
behavior in the class and once the teacher is having a recitation, some students specially boys opted to
seat at the back because they don‟t want to be called by their teacher. And I observed also that mostly
boys are at the back it‟s not just because of their height but they opted to seat their at the back because
they can‟t make a noise in front and they can‟t play mobile games.

3. Describe the relationship among the learners. Do the learners cooperate with or compete
against each other?
What I like about the students is they embodies Ant Mentality rather than crab mentality, they
lift each other‟s up but in acceptable and proper way and not to the point that they are going to cheat
just to win and to prove that they are better than the others. If there is someone who is making an hard
time understanding the lesson or someone that needs to cope up with lesson, they actually willing to
help their classmate understand the lesson and giving instruction on what they need to do.

26
S

4. Who among the students participate actively? Who among them ask for most help?
We cannot deny the fact that students are diverse, there are different type of learners, some
can learn through audio, some can learn through visual and some can learn through audio visual. And
with regards to the active participation of the students, I was actually awe to how the students
participate on the class.
But the problem is by giving instruction to the students, as a teacher I have to think for a better
strategy that can help the students to easily understand the topic very well. And based on what I
observed there are still some students who needs further explanation to the topic and instruction and
what the teachers is debunking the instruction to it‟s most simple way .

5. When a student is called and cannot answer the teacher‟s question, do the classmates try to
help him? Or do they raise their hands, so that the teacher will call them instead?
In order to test the students if they totally understand the topic, recitation techniques is just
one of the ways to see if students really learned because it will reflect on how effective a teacher you
are.
The teacher intentionally call the student who is not raising their hands and usually don‟t know the
answer. And I had seen how the teacher approach it‟s students, how he makes compliment whether
the answer is right or wrong.

Outside class:
3. How do the students group themselves outside class? Homogeneously, by age?
by gender? by racial or ethnic groups? By their interests? Or are the students in mixed social
groupings? If so, describe the groupings.

Based on my observation, there are some group of students interacts and are being grouped
according to their interest and gender. Since there are students who are in the rainbow color
community specifically gays and lesbian, gays tends to mingle with the girl group and lesbian tends to
mingle with the boy. I have also seen a PWD Student where it‟s classmates treat him like he has no
disability, that he is not different from them, that he actually part of the group. And this is a
testaments that the school really promote inclusivity, where everyone is equal.
And since Echague comprises of Yogad group, there are students who are Yogad and this is challenge
to the teacher on how he deal with diverse students.

4. Notice students who are alone and those who are not interacting. Describe their behaviour.
There is no observable „alone‟ since all of them are interactive.

1. Identify the persons who play key roles in the relationships and interactions in the classroom
What roles do they play? Is there somebody who appears to be the leader, a mascot/joker an attention
seeker, a little teacher, a doubter/pessimist?
Based on my observation and upon entering into the different classrooms, engaging and
interacting with students, I had seen and realized the DIVERSITY OF LEARNERS, some of them
embodies the skills of being a leader, someone who sets a good example to it‟s classmates and
someone who can serve as an helping hand to the teachers. I had seen and observed also the other side

27
S

of every students and that is the ability to put fun in class, someone who sets the mood in the class and
throwing funny entries that encourages everyone to laugh. And there are also students who we call as
“Attention seeker‟ in way that it‟s behavior was uncontrollable, the behavior that the teachers need to
control it‟s temper and on the other side “Attention Seeker‟ in a way that needs moral support and
some words of encouragement .
What makes the learners assume these roles? What factors affect their behavior?
What influence them to assume those roles, I think it is more of peer influence and at the same
their personal or individual choice and how society labeled them t be. Peer Influence in a way that
embracing or adapting what actions does it‟s friends do because it is what makes them acceptable.
Personal or Individual Choice, it is way that just for personal satisfaction of what he think he wants
and what he think need to become. And society in accordance to what he is capable off, society
labeled him because of how he acts, because society sees what he is capable off.
2. Is there anyone you observed who appear left out'? Are students who appear "different?" Why
do they appear different? Are they accepted or rejected by the others? How is this shown?
Actually I have observed student who is Person with Disability and good thing that he does not
act so badly, to the point that his behavior was uncontrollable. And it is good thing also that he has
receiving positive treatment coming form it‟s classmates and on it‟s teachers. And with regards to the
gender identity of the students, I think that the school and teachers promotes inclusivity and I think
there no serious discriminatory events on the side of the members of rainbow flags and actually there
are gay and transgender students wearing female uniform and that is totally acceptable by the school
but of course they need still abide the morally and avoid unethical behavior that can give them a bad
record to their character.
What does the teacher do to address issues like this?
Teachers has need to set an example to the students, it is their job to instil good value to the
students, helping them deepening their understanding about their society.
I had observed how they give importance having the sense of sensitivity for they will interact with the
different kinds of students, someone who is in IP Group, someone who is in rainbow flags.
So I think it is present on teachers the ability to connect with their students, the ability to think of a
strategic techniques that best way to treat diverse learners.
3. How does the teacher influence the class interaction considering the individual differences of
the students?
The teacher encourages the children to be kind and considerate with their words, to support one
another and appreciate one another's differences, and to be there for one another as friends who are
prepared to lend a hand and provide emotional support. The teacher also exhorts the pupils to respect
and accept one another's beliefs and points of view, as well as their shared interests, pastimes, and
preferences.

4. What strategies does the teacher use to maximize the benefits or diversity in the classroom? How
does the teacher leverage diversity?
That is by setting as a good example to the students. As teacher it is our job to deepen the
understanding of the students about diversity, about the society. By getting to know her students'
histories, learning styles, and interests, the teacher ensures that she is aware of the unique differences
among her students. Through allowing them to talk about their cultural backgrounds and building a
pleasant relationship with them, the teacher promotes respect among her students and gets them to be
willing to talk to each other. Additionally, the instructor tries to incorporate the celebration of cultural

28
S

variety into every session in any way she can, such as by using role-playing games, sharing, and other
activities that help the students learn about one another's cultures.

1. How did you feel being in that classroom? Did you feel the sense of oneness or unity among
the learners and between the teacher and the learner?
The class that we observed had a sense of unity or oneness. It is encouraging to observe that
everyone respects one another's differences. They were companions regardless of their age, gender, or
ethnicity. Additionally, the instructor does an excellent job at accommodating each student's unique
needs.

1. Did your observation match the information given by the teacher?

On my first day of my observation, my critic teacher reminded me the possible
scenario that I might face, he gives emphasis on the DIVERSITY OF THE LEARNERS, on
what are the strategies or approaches that best suit to the needs of the students. And at first I
had already composed myself, considering the possible happenings that I may encounter but
the experiencing is fulfilling to our side. I had seen diverse learner, different type of learners,
observing how students act, behave, interact in school and it actually differ from our
generation.
2. Describe the differences in ability levels of the students in the class? What practices or
strategies are done or should be done to differentiate instruction to meet the needs of the
learners
It is very evident that there are different type of learners and as teacher it is job to
make sure that every students really understand the topic well, we have to think the best
strategy to help students who had an hard time coping up with the topic. From preparing our
instructional materials, on how we deliver our lesson effectively and be more engaging that is
suited to the needs of the students and it is allign with their interest.
3. Describe the methods used by the teacher in handling the students‟ differences in abilities.
How did the students respond to the teacher? Did the teacher used the differentiated
instruction? If yes, described how
If the teacher sees that the topic was not engaging and makes the students difficult to
learn, the teacher needs to think of the best and simplest words to help them fully understand
the topic and it has to start from the basic and with of course in accordance to the level of
their understanding and intellectual capabilities of the students. Using socratic method, asking
question to slowly understand the topic.

1. Recall the time when you were in elementary or high school. Recall the high and low
achievers in your class. How did your teacher deal with differences in abilities? Was
your teacher effective?
We cannot deny the fact that there are students who has high IQ, some of them are
academic achievers and some of them are grade conscious and this is good on the side of
the teachers, to make an engaging teaching and learning process. But we cannot also deny
the fact that there are students who needs more elaboration of the topic, think of the best
and simplest explanation of the topic in accordance of course of the level of their
understanding.

2. What dispositions and traits will you need as a future teacher to meet the needs of the
learners?
Honestly Speaking, as I had assessed myself on how I teach I think my approach is
best suited for a college student. But since it is innate to as teachers to become flexible it is
our job to think of the best strategy, to think of best teaching strategies that really meets the
needs and interest of the students. I think as a future teacher I have to become flexible at all
times and aside from it requires us also to become creative as we will create different

instructional materials in accordance of course ot the what type of learners we are going to
teach.

CREATING AN APPROPRIATE LEARNING ENVIRONMENT

INTENDED LEARNING OUTCOME

At the end of this Episode, I must be able to:

 Plan on how to manage time
 Provide a learning environment appropriate to the learners and conducive learning.

MANAGING TIME. SPACE AND LEARNING

RESOURCES

Resource Teacher: Sir Jonathan Manayan Teacher’s Signature:_______________

Subject Area: UCSP AND TRENDS Date: November 28, 2023

Observe and use the observation sheet provided for you to document your observations.

1. As you observe the class, look into the characteristics of the learners. Note their ages.

The students that I am observing are senior high school and ages 17-22. Some of them are matured
enough but some of them also does not act according to their age. Our generation has a big different
in today generation.

2. How many boys are there? How many girls?

23 for boy and 8 for girls.

43
S

3. Focus on their behavior. Are they already able to manage their own behavior?

As far as I observed I think they are not yet ready to totally manage their own behavior but actually it
does not meet my expectation towards how they supposed to behave and act. The year level that I am
observing are senior high school students and I expected them to act like a matured one but when it
comes into limiting on how they behave, putting up boundaries on the things that they possibly can do
which unethical and it seems disrespectful, they know how to put limits in their own.

4. Can the learners already work independently?

Not yet, they still needs the guidance and supervision of the teachers and to all the people around
them.

5. Describe their span of attention.

As I was given the chance to teach, I observed how attentive and participative my students are. I can
actually see how they wanted to learn but we cannot prevent them to make unnecessary noises that
distract the class session when it seems that the lesson perceives to be boring and it does not meet
their interest. And it is the job o the teacher to think for the best teaching strategy.

Analyze and answer these questions on observed classroom management practices. It is also good to
ask the teacher for additional information, so you can validate your observation. Write your notes
below; and then organize your data in the Table that follows.

1. Are there areas in the classroom for specific purposes (storage of teaching aids, books, students
belongings, supplies, etc.)? Describe these areas. Will it make a difference if the areas for specific
purposes are not present?

There is a cabinet used to store teaching aids, this will help the teacher to organize his
teaching materials and important files of the students from their report cards, activities and projects.

2. Are there rules and procedures posted in the room? List them down. Do these rules reinforce
positive behavior?

 Notice keep this Area Clean

 10 Electrical Safety Rules

44
S

One of the classroom that the students are occupying is the computer lab which consist of
functional computers, this rules will help students maintain the cleanliness of the room, will reminds
the students to become responsible in using computers to avoid short circuit and fire.

 DRRM
This will give awareness on the important things to do when disaster happens and when
unprecedented events happen like Earthquake, what are the important safety procedure, what are the
things we need to do before, during and after the disaster.

3. Did the students participate in making the classroom rules? If the Resource Teacher is
available, ask him/her to describe the process. What's the effect of students participation in rule-
making on student's behavior?

The implementation of rules will enable the teachers to create a peaceful environment for the
students. Once it has been implemented it is our job to disseminate it to the students, instill them the
value and importance of abiding the policies or obeying the rules being set by the teachers, being set
by the school to prevent or avoid from unexpected hazard or risk that may have negative effect
towards them and towards to the safety of the students.

4. What are the daily routines done by the Resource Teacher? (prayer, attendance, assignment of
monitors, warm-up activities, etc.) How are they done?
The class will start through a prayer to be led by the students, second the teacher will check
the attendance of the class, third they summarize their past lesson and fourth before they start opening
up the discussion the teacher will do the motivation part of the lesson or they also start introducing
the topic and next is the motivation or games.

5. Is there a seating arrangement? What is the basis of this arrangement? Does this help managing the
class?
Seating Arrangement would help the teacher monitor every students in the sense on how
students cope up with the lesson with regards on considering the physical status of the students ,to
how poor is their eye sight, how hard for them to clearly hear the information and how tall they are.
But there are seating arrangement that designates students according to how they behave on the class,
this would help the teachers effectively manage the class in the sense that students will be designated
to the seats where they can‟t make unnecessary noises which affects the teacher to deliver its lesson to
them.

6. Observe the noise level in the classroom. How is this managed?

Managing students behavior is one of the most challenging part of being a teacher but the
passion to serve and guide is undeniable. Based on what I observed, the teacher will calmly reminds
the students to stop making unnecessary noises that affects there teaching delivery and this will also
affect students cope up with the lesson, to clearly hear and understand the topic since they are many
voices.

7. If a learner is not following instruction or is off-task, what does the Resource Teacher do? Describe
the behavior strategies used.

45
S

One of the problems that some teachers had to faced is on how they control their temper and anger
issue since teaching and interacting with diverse students will challenged their profession. When it
comes to the behavior of the students, we cannot deny the fact that in a class there are students who
has uncontrollable behavior, some students are playing mobile games and uttering some bad words
while the teachers is teaching, there are also students who fell sleep even in their first class or first
subject in the morning and what worst there are students who disrespects the teacher. And those
behavior should not be tolerated, reminding and giving warning to the students are one of the
strategies that the teacher do in order to make an order on the class but controlling there tempe is
much applicable to this profession, every warnings and voices should be done calmly and peacefully
where it avoids the two parties to make the situation worst.

8. What does the Resource Teacher do to reinforce positive behaviors? (behavior strategies)
One of the positive reinforcement is giving them rewards, points to be reflected on their scores and
grades, material rewards or even positive words that acknowledge there efforts in participating to the
class

Reflection as a future teacher

1. Why do you need to enforce positive discipline?
Our future profession will challenged every aspects of our life, we will be challenged physically
by reserving our voices, our energy just to give an equal energy in every section that we will be
handling, from making instructional materials it challenged us physically by having a not enough
sleep just to prepare the things that we need whether it is paper works, organizing our important files
and instructional materials. Mentally thinking about the best teaching strategies just to effectively and
successfully deliver the teaching- Learning Process. Socially, it is our job to build connection the
students to make an active and participatory class session, our temper and anger issue should be our
utmost consideration and needs to monitor. Enforcing positive discipline will help not just students
but also to us teachers. Turning the class, the students to become an active learners rather than to be a
passive learners, the success of the students will reflect on how effective you are as there teacher.

1. How did the classroom organization and routines affect the learners‟ behavior?
This encourages them to actively participate on the class, help them reflect and be conscious
on the behavior that they shown on the class that tends to disrespect the teachers, reminding them the
do‟s and don‟t of the class, what are the acceptable and unacceptable behavior, setting up boundaries
or limitations on what extent they can do in the classroom not just on interacting with the teachers but
also to their fellow students. Same as through with the teachers, be mindful in every disciplinary
actions that they are going to execute, does it beneficial to the students, does it not harms the students
or themselves.
2. What should the teacher have in mind when she/he designs the classroom organization and
routines? What theories and principles should you have in mind?
Classroom Management Theories:
Assertive Discipline: Establish clear expectations and consequences for behavior.
Positive Discipline: Emphasize positive reinforcement and a collaborative approach to managing
behavior.
The Responsive Classroom: Focus on creating a positive community, incorporating social-emotional
learning, and integrating academic and social development.

Reminding every students that every actions they have in the class has it consequences depending on
what actions that is? But of course as teacher, it is our job to guide our students, instilling them the
importance of having a sense of sensitivity, be conscious and accountable in their actions and
behavior on the class. Thinking of the best reinforcement to your students should always consider
does it truly helps them or does it harm them.
3. Which behavior strategies were effective in managing the behavior of the learners? In
motivating students? Why were they effective?
Consistent Consequences: Why it's effective: Consistency in applying consequences for both positive
and negative behaviors helps establish a predictable and fair environment. When students understand
the consequences of their actions, they are more likely to make positive choices.

Reflect on the following and write your insights.

1. Imagine yourself organizing your classroom in the future. In what level do you see yourself?
What routines and procedures would you consider for this level? Why?
If I am going to based on my self observation with regards to what is my teaching approach , I
think I am more suitable on Senior high Level considering also to my expertise with regards to
subjects being taken specifically in HUMSS Strand. Based also on my observation, since the
education system has been stagnant for almost two years because of the pandemic, I had to adjust
my teaching approach and at the same time how I handle or manage my class. Most probably I
have to adjust in terms of how I deliver or exerts every teaching strategies I have. Standing and
speaking in front of the diverse students is a challenged to us teachers, this will test and evaluate

48

our teaching and learning processes. There are students whose IQ is beyond average or beyond
our own expectation and there are also students who had difficulties in learning so what I am
going to do is to weigh everything and make sure that in delivering my lesson every students are
really understand the lesson, that I was able to apply every strategies I have that is suited to the
need and interest of the students regardless of what is there level of understanding. And in with
regards to there behavior, the creation of classroom rules and reminding everything students about
the DO‟s and „DONT‟s in your class before the class starts is crucial to implement, making of
positive reinforcement and letting them know about the possible consequences of their own
actions this will help us teachers to inculcate to the minds of the students that there are boundaries
being set and they have to strictly follow it.
2. Make the list of the rules you are likely to implement in this level. Why would you choose
these rules?

RESPECT EACH OTHER-This

promotes inclusivity in the room, were on
one will left behind and no one will be
discriminated.
BE ON TIME- Attendance will be strictly
monitored.
LISTEN WHEN YOU’RE TEACHERS
SPEAKING- Assess students on what
they learn about the lesson.
DOESN’T BE SHY TO ASK A
QUESTION- This will help the teachers
assess if the student really learned the
topic, do they really understand the lesson.
DON’T CHEAT WHEN TAKING
EXAMS- This will help the teachers
assessed there students about their learning
status, the result f there exams will reflect
on how effective the teachers are.
BE CONDUCIVE IN CLASS-
Encourage every students to participate on
the class and be an active learner. Turning
them to become active rather than to become passive learners.

3. Should learners be involved in making the class rules? Why?

In assessing the students merely observation is not enough to get a satisfying result that will
become the basis of making class rules. Involving the students in making the class rules and
evaluating the possible rules given by the students is applicable to implement in the room specially
that there are the ones who always observing about the behavior of their class, about their classmate
specially that there are officers in the room and since the teachers are not always there to monitor their
students. And this also help the teachers evaluate if there students are really mindful and conscious
about their own action that possibly disturbs the class session.

Analyze the routines set by the Resource Teacher by answering the following questions.

1. Were the routines effective in ensuring discipline and order in the class? Why? Why not?
Yes, it is effective but we cannot the deny the fact that there are still students who disobeys
the rules, so it very important to set light punishments or the possible consequences of not following
the rules whether punishing them to provide something that is beneficial to the improvement of there
classroom with of course in accordance to what they are capable off, or it can also be regards on their
grades, this will reflects on their performance in the class and more importantly this will reflect on
their GMRC files which is one of the required documents to their admission purposes.
2. Which of those routines were systematic and consistently implemented? Explain your answer.
Initial steps include standard procedures such as greetings, prayer, attendance checking, and a
review of the preceding lesson. Motivational strategies, employing various techniques aligned with
the lesson content, are also integrated. Following the lesson, assessments and assignment activities are
conducted. Both teachers and students systematically execute these procedures, contributing to a well-
structured and timely classroom environment. These practices not only foster classroom cohesion but
also support effective teaching and learning

Reflect on the various routines observed.

1. Which of the routines will you most likely apply in your class? Why? Why not?
Based on my observations, I would like to implement general applications that would enable
me to stay connected to the system and teach, such as preliminaries such as greetings, prayer,

attendance monitoring, lesson review, and motivation in the form of various techniques that link to the
lesson's content. Naturally, I would integrate technology in a way that aligns with the majority of
essential learning competencies and higher order thinking skills.

Listing Down Classroom Rules

Resource Teacher: Sir Jonathan Manayan Teacher’s Signature:_______________

School: Echague National High School Grade/Year Level: HUMSS STRAND
Subject Area: UCSP AND TRENDS Date: December 04, 2023

Observe a class and list down the classroom rules formulated by the Resource Teacher. Cite the
importance of these rules.

Classroom rules are imperative and must be reinforced for learners" safety and security. Rules also
teach discipline and self-control. Rules eliminate stress and will provide a more pleasant, secured and
non-threatening environment. Rules ensure the students' engagement and focus in their classroom
activities.

Classroom Rules Importance

1. Listen when your teacher is talking. To fully understand the topic, students are
required to carefully listen to the teachers while
they are speaking and teachers also need to
clearly state the instruction/information so that
students can also clearly understand them. To
have a smooth discussion.
2. Follow directions quickly. To avoid error and achieve the expected result or
outcome teachers need to clearly and thoroughly
state the instruction, explain every items the best
way possible
3. Instilling them the importance of respect enable
them to promote inclusivity within there school,
Respect others. Respect yourself Respect your within there room and towards themselves. This
school. will help them prevent discrimination that
negatively impacts students.
4. Reminding every students the importance of good
character, prepares them not just on their dream
Be safe, be kind, be honest. profession but enables them to immerse in
humanity. Realizing that everyone should be

53

treated with kindness.

5. Raise your hand to speak to the class Giving everyone the opportunity to speak and
share ideas will help not just the students but also
to the teachers, this will develop the public
speaking skill of the students, teachers are able to
monitor the learning status of there students, of
what they learned.

1. Analyze each given rule. What circumstances led to the formulation of the rule?

Classroom rule Circumstances led to the formulation of the

rule
Listen when your teacher is talking. - when the teacher is talking and discussing in
front of the class, students are doing their own
business instead of focusing themselves in
listening to the discussion and which is why
some of them can‟t understand the lesson very
well and it‟s creates a distraction to the class.
Follow directions quickly. - Since of the students are doing something‟s
which is not related to the discussion, this has
cause them to not fully understand the topic and
at the same time they can‟t start the activity that
there had prepared them to do.

- some of the instructions are being verbally

stipulated and some of it are written, some of
the students whether accidentally or
intentionally forgot to read and understand the
instruction which is why the result of the
activity does not meet its passing score or
percentage.
Respect others. Respect yourself. Respect your -to those students who lack respect
school
- To avoid each students from discrimination
and become bully.
Raise your hand to speak to the class -when students often just shout their answer
instead of raising hands to be recognize.
Be safe, be kind, be honest - It is very important for them to still remain
good at all times when the situation seems like
forcing them to do bad things.

2. Are classroom rules really important?

54
S

Teachers are not their to control the students, to dictate students of what they think is right or
wrong, because all of us had our different perspective of what we consider is right and wrong. But I
felt like to be able to build a strong foundation within our students is first through their homes,
through their families and schools, teachers to add important moral values that they should embody
and prepares them to there future profession in life.
Setting up classroom rules will enable students, the teachers and the school to really make a
good organization of the school, to all of the people inside of the school. This will create an order, that
all things are in order. To really prevent unexpected issues and scenarios that will reflects on the
effectiveness of the teachers in classroom management, of how effective the school in setting up
policies specially in creating a safe and peaceful environment for the students and most specially to
assess and evaluate students on what are the things they can offer not just to school but also to there
community and to themselves. Instilling them the importance of being a responsible students will
really prepares them to become a responsible citizen of their community and of to our country.

Reflect on the various classroom rules set by the resource Teacher. Will you have the same rules?
What rules are you going to employ? Explain your answer.
From all of the rules and policies that they‟ve created inside of the school and inside of there
classes, instilling them the importance of respect and the sense of being a responsible individual, this
rules had made a bigger impact other than any rules they have. Because if you have respect to others ,
respect to those teachers who had done there very best, who had so much sweat just to serves us,
everything will fall in to its own order and it‟s to own expected positive result. Instilling them the
importance of respect will enables them to obey what rules being set by teachers, knowing who has
the higher authority will enables them also to appreciate that in everything that there teachers are
doing it is for their own sake and it is for their own future. The sense of being a responsible
individual, to become a leader who sets a good example to everyone, to give importance on education,
to become academically responsible that this will be reflected on the exerted effort and sacrifices of
the teachers at the same time to their hard works that the students had done throughout their journey.

PHYSICAL AND PERSONAL ASPECTS OF CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT

 Identify the two aspects of classroom management; and

 Determine the classroom management strategies that the Resource Teacher employed in

IDENTIFYING PERSONAL AND PHYSICAL ASPECTS

OF CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT

Resource Teacher: Sir Jonathan Manayan Teacher’s Signature:_______________

Subject Area: UCSP AND TRENDS Date: December 05, 2023

Observe a class and interview the Resource Teacher. Ask how the personal and physical aspects of
classroom management ensure proper classroom management and discipline.
Check if these aspects were observed in the classroom.

Aspects of Classroom Management YES NO

1. Personal Classroom Management 
1.1 Is the teacher well-groomed that he/she demands respect from the learners? 
1.2 Is the teacher's voice modulated and can be heard by the entire class? 
1.3 Was the teacher present in class? 
1.4 Did the teacher arrive on time in class? 
1.5 Does the teacher exude a positive attitude towards teaching? 
2. Physical Classroom Management 
2.1 Is the classroom well-ventilated? 

57
S

2.2 Is the lighting good enough? 

2.3 Is the classroom free from noise? 
2.4 Does the seating arrangement provide better interaction? 
2.5 Is the design/structure of the room inviting to classroom activities? 
2.6 Is the physical space/ learning station clear from obstruction? 

Analyze the different elements of personal/physical classroom management and answer the following
questions
1. How does the voice of the teacher affect the classroom instructions?
Considering the large numbers of the students per room and the unnecessary noises coming
from students, it is very important to consider our speaking voice, is it enough already to get the
attention of the students?, is is clearly heard specially to those students at the back? Aside from our
voices, we need to consider also reserving our energy, do we exert an equal energy to all sections that
we handle. For us to deliver an effective teaching and learning processes, our voice, how we speak in
front of the class plays a pivotal role in helping our students clearly and fully understand our
discussion, this may prevent us from repeating instruction but of course with proper classroom
management we can possibly make our learners become active in the class.
2. How does the punctuality of the teacher affect classroom discipline?
One of the qualities that teachers should have is they know how to manage their time. We
cannot deny the fact that the job of teachers does not just about preparing the lesson that they are
going to teach in their classes but they had also some important paper works to do, administrative
works that may affects there teaching profession. Aside from that, having aware of time and schedule
makes the teaching smoothly done as it was planned and expected to be done. Honestly speaking,
there are times that some of the teachers are attending the class 5 Minutes late but the reason is
considerable and this cause students going outside and making unnecessary noises that disturbs other
classes.
3. Why do we need to check the physical aspects of classroom management?
To ensure that discussions and learning activities flow easily for the teacher and the students,
we need to examine the practical components of classroom management. The safety and discipline of
the class would be ensured by using the best of these actual classroom components.

Reflect on the aspect of personal and classroom management.

1. What does the statement mean to you as a future teacher? Explain.
“No amount of good instruction will come out without effective classroom management”
Classroom management is a must for teachers. Interacting with diverse learners is a
challenged for every teachers, they have to consider different strategies that is suitable and
will meet to the needs and interests of the students. Considering about how students behave in
the class, what are the tolerable and intolerable actions, how they interact with others
specially to their teachers with proper classroom management this will make an organization

58
S

or order in the class.Classroom management is the key element to execute an effective

teaching strategy. Therefore, in order for a teacher to make learning possible, he should know
how to manage people.

2. What are your plans in ensuring effective classroom management?

First and for most, the best way to make our teaching career effective, we have to love our
profession, consider it not just a profession but as a vocation and by loving the profession, we will not
endure how hard and how challenging it is. As they say teaching is a noblest profession and no one
can replace teachers.
Teachers are being equipped with so much important abilities that makes up the teaching and
learning process be more effective and will successfully meet the expected outcome or result. The
flexibility of the teachers in terms of time management, in terms of how manage the class, in terms of
how they make the 4 corners of the room serves a healthy environment to everyone. The creativity of
the teachers, in terms of their preparation, preparing for best instructional materials that is engaging
and in accordance to the different types of learners. The intellectual capability of the teachers, in
terms of delivering the lesson, helping every students cope up with the lesson, making sure that every
students fully understands the lesson. Those are just some of the characteristics of being an effective
teachers that is reflected on the effective classroom management method.

Analyze the checklist you have accomplished and answer the given questions:
1. How many strategies were employed by the Resource Teacher? Did these contribute to the
better classroom management? Explain your answer.
Teachers executed different strategies that caters the interests and needs of the students
specially in delivering an effective teaching and learning process. Teachers carefully planned and
designed every lessons, thinking of the best teaching strategies that seeks to help students in coping up
to the lesson, in making the discussion or class be more active and engaging. Considering some
factors that may affect there teaching strategies, that might alter the positive result of the teaching
methods and that is how teachers manage the class, considering those unexpected events or scenarios
that may arose, considering the environment, considering how students behave on the class, those are
just some of the possible factors that negatively impacts the teaching and learning process.
2. What were not used by the Resource Teacher? Were these important? What should have been
used instead? Explain.
The Resource Teachers considers the needs and interest of the students in every teaching
strategies that they executed. It is important to determined the best and suitable strategies that targets
every students to participate and engaged in the class discussion. And in crafting different teaching
methods , applying different strategies they considers the appropriateness of those things in relation to
the topic that they are going to discuss, this will adds excitement to the side of the students, to really
encourage them to participate on the discussion when it seems boring and not so interesting on the
side of the students.

As a future teacher, reflect on the observations then answer the given question.

1. What classroom management strategies do I need to employ to respond to diverse types of

learners?
Encouraging everyone to participate in the class, in terms of giving them the opportunity to
share their own ideas, on what they know about the topic, encourage them to speak, to raise there
hands so that everyone will have group discussion on the topic and it will supplements the discussion
of the teachers. Offer praise and rewards whether they answered it right or wrong and by doing that it
really motivates them to actively engage on the class. Set the classroom to an inclusive environment
for everyone regardless of where they came from, regardless of their cultural background, regardless
of their gender identity. Ensure that no one will left behind that everyone will have an equal
pportunity to speak, to be included and to not have the feeling of being an outcast . And as teacher it is
my duty to instill into my students the importance of having a cultural understanding and cultural
sensitivity where every students will not experience being discriminated because of their differences.

Answer the following questions based on the diagram.

1. Are the three components constructively aligned? Explain.
Aligned constructively, the lesson plan seamlessly integrates objectives, teaching methods,
and assessment. The learning process effectively attains the intended outcomes, making the
overall approach successful as it stands.

2. Will the outcomes be achieved with the teaching methods used? Why?

67
S

The teacher successfully achieves the outcomes through varied teaching methods tailored to
different sections. He maintains clarity regarding the lesson's objectives, employing suitable
motivation for discussions. Additionally, he employs assessments that strategically alter the
scenario, ensuring a comprehensive approach to learning.

3. What component would tell if the outcomes have been achieved?

Assessment holds the ultimate significance as it serves as the decisive factor determining
whether or not a student has truly grasped the material.

What lessons have you learned in developing or writing a lesson plan?

The key lesson I've acquired in crafting a daily lesson log is the critical alignment of its three
components—learning outcomes, lesson proper, and assessment. Ensuring a seamless connection
between these elements not only enhances the coherence of the log but also serves as a blueprint for
my teaching methodology, enabling personal development in lesson planning.
What will it give to the teacher if the three components are aligned?
Providing clear guidance to the teacher, it serves as a blueprint for a successful teaching-
learning process that aligns with lifelong learning principles.

Observe a class with the use of the principles of learning given in Revisit the Learning Essentials. I
will identify evidence of applications/violations of the principles of learning. I can cite more than one
evidence per principle of learning.

72
S

Principles of Learning What did the Resource Teacher do to

apply the principle of learning?

1. Effective learning begins with the setting of He has a clear vision of the learning
clear and high expectations of learning outcomes. outcome she prepared for the lesson.

2. Learning is an active process. He uses diverse teaching strategies that he

used in the teaching learning process. It is
effective since the Socratic method is
applicable to all however the teacher assure
that the learning doesn‟t only happen inside
the discussion. He uses assessment to assure
and he reflected that learning actually
happens since there are high scores and
feedback from the learners.
3. Learning is the discovery of personal meaning Incorporating life lesson that every students
and relevance of ideas. can relate, opening up a discussion that
every one has something to share and that
everyone will learned towards group
discussion.
4. Learning is a cooperative and a collaborative Allowing everyone to work together, letting
process. Learning is enhanced in an atmosphere of everyone interact with one another and does
cooperation and collaboration. not just stay and stick with there group, to
there own circle of friends. Selecting a
leaders of the group and allowing everyone
to participate and help one another in
making there group activities that turn out
also to be individual since the grading will
not just based on the over all performance
as a group but it also on the individual
performances of the students.

1. What principles of learning were most applied? least applied?

MOST APPLIED
Learning is the discovery of personal meaning and relevance of ideas. As educators we go
beyond the contents of textbooks. They impart not just information found in books but also essential
life lessons, treating students with care, assuring that they have a healthy and peaceful environment
which they can consider as there second home.

73
S

LEAST APPLIED
Effective learning begins with the setting of clear and high expectations of learning outcomes.
Because sometimes in the discussion part of the lesson plan it took an hour to finished and it does not
totally achieved the learning objectives of the lesson plan.. And there are also times that the lesson
took 2 days to finished because of unforeseen events that arose on the day of the discussion.

Give instances where this/these principle/s could been applied.

The Lesson should carefully plan and the discussion should also be carefully delivered in a
way that students can easily understand the topic, avoid making students confuse about the topic by
giving ideas that are not related to the topic. Be mindful to the time allotted on the discussion part,
limiting students to ask so much questions that seems like not related to the topic or questions. And
before the discussion will start, rules should be presented already to make a smooth yet engaging
discussion of the lesson.

From one of the principles of learning, which one do yo think is the most important?
I hold the view that the foundational principle of learning is its active nature, as it necessitates
engaged participation in higher-order cognitive functions like analysis, synthesis, and assessment.
Consequently, instructional activities benefit from active learning, wherein students are actively
involved in doing tasks and reflecting on their actions.

What teaching-learning practice shows that teaching approach was:

a) Constructivist-connected to past experiences of a learners; learners constructed new lesson

meanings

b) inquiry-based

c) developmentally appropriate - learning activities fit the developmental stage of children

The exercises assigned by the teacher reflect the stage of development of the pupils. Which the
teacher has to be clear and precise to motivate the children.
d) reflective

the teacher‟s strategy is to give vision and situation related to the actions and goals of the students
versus what they do at the present so that the students can reflect on their own.
e) inclusive No learner was excluded; teacher taught everybody.
The teacher embrace diversity among students and there is a clear manifestation of her being
inclusive and giving quality education for everyone.

f) collaborative - Students worked together.

The students use individual and group skills to collaborate, brainstorm and teamwork

8) integrative- Lesson was multidisciplinary - e.g. In Science, Math concepts were taught
the students attempted to connect their lesson/topic into other areas of specialization and to other
skills

6. Learning is meaningful when it is connected to The incorporation of personal life is deemed
students' everyday life. crucial, particularly when broaching topics
related to family. However, the teacher exercises
caution and chooses to integrate personal aspects
through the lens of students' interests and
aspirations, fostering a connection that is both
meaningful and respectful.
7. An integrated teaching approach is far The teacher incorporates topics that are not only
more effective than teaching isolated bits of relevant but also practical and directly related to
information the lesson. This approach aims to facilitate
learning that is not just theoretical but applicable,
providing students with knowledge and skills
they can use in real-life scenarios.

What is the best method of teaching? Is there such a thing?

Within the social studies discipline, adopting an interactive approach to comprehensive
discussions and incorporating activities that are directly beneficial to students' development is highly
effective. Real-life activities serve to awaken their understanding of the world, and interactive
elements maintain lively communication and sustained attention. This approach enhances the
educational experience by making it more engaging and relevant to students' goals.
