OBSERVATION REPORT

Name of the School Observed: Parang National High School

Location of the School: Parang, Calapan City Oriental Mindoro
Date to Visit: September 16, 2023

It was 15th of September, 2023 when the 1st school observation at Parang Narional High
School for field study happens in accordance to subject description of our course. We are
tasked to observed, analyse and reflect to the school environment of the said school. As per the
instruction of our professor, we are able to know the backgrounds, status and the school
facilities itself.

As a growing school, I was able to hear stories of its transformation and histories. With the
principals dedication to lead its community, Parang National High School is now performing
and winning in some outside school events. They have already made their students be at
National level and won Pandanggitab Festivals. Along with my observations and the reality of
having hundreds of students, Parang National High School lacks in classroom facilities.
Hopefully, time will come that this growing community will not only make a remarkable
change but also has its facilities for better benefits of the students’ welfare, learning and
development. With the principals dedication, hardwork and courage this will all be possible.
ANALYZE

How do the school campus and the classroom in particular impact the learning of the
students going to school? What are your conclusions?
 I conclude that the school campus and the classroom state right now has its impact
on the students learning and development. Since, Parang National High School
has large numbers of students and students make their classes outside rooms, it
greatly affects students in a negative way that they might not learn enough.
Learning outside a classroom is not beneficial to students, destructive noises,
activities and even people coming makes up their attention that led to destructing
their focus to the teachers.

How does this relate to your knowledge of child and adolescent development/How does
this relate to your knowledge of facilitating learning?
 The environment we had may possibly determine who we are or what a person we
become. Simply, the people surrounds you impacts the development of a child or
an adolescent. The community we belong is a great contributor in facilitating
learning and acquiring knowledge and this indicates that the family, school and
community must collaborate on achieving the higher state for the well-being of
the learners.
REFLECT

1. Would you like to teach in the school environment you just observed? Why? Why
not?
 For me possibly yes, as a future educator and based on my own personality I am a
risk taker. I may not know the answer yet but I am always willing to take the risk
for any opportunity to grow, learn and create a change. It was indeed a
challenging journey to teach in Parang, knowing the distance from our home, the
state of classrooms but what makes me interested is the Principal itself who
makes everything possible on his leadership.

2. What kind of school campus is conducive to learning?

 Simply, based on my personal perspective a school campus conducive to learning
has complete facilities, laboratories especially classrooms that will cater the needs
of students for learning and development. Moreover, a conducive environment on
which it keeps student out of harm or danger.
3. What kind of classroom is conducive to learning?
 A classroom conducive to learning is clean, organized, well ventilated and not
crowded for students to maximize the process of learning and developing.
Likewise, a conducive to learning classroom can make it as an experiential
learning for students to explore and engage in various activities.

4. In the future, how can you accomplish your answer in number 3?

 Since, there is a memorandum of not having too much displays in a classroom, I
think one thing that I will make sure is that my room is proper ventilated and
lighted. The comfort ability of students on a classroom is a number one priority. I
will make my room minimalist and light to the eye of the learner.

ANALYZE

What do you think was the purpose of the board display?

 The objective of the board display is to tell students about the most recent updates
or memo- rams, to motivate them to be achievers, and to engage them by
engaging in school events or upcoming projects.
Did the board display design reflect the likes/interests of its target audience? Why? Why not?

 Yes, a board display reflects the interest or likes of the target audience. On the
other hand, due to Deped Memorandum No. 21, bulletin boards or any posters on
walls are being removed. A board-display must be eye-catcher for the learners and
were easy to understand.
Was the language used clear and simple for the target audience to understand? Why? Why not?

 Yes, the language use is English since it was a foreign language board display.
Was the board display effective? Why? Why not?

 Bulletin boards are effective and informational to everyone. This serves as a

source of reminders but then it wasn’t as effective as it could be since it was being
removed day by day.
What suggestions can you make?

 To have an effective bulletin board, it must consider the target learners its’ interest
and likes. The information being posted must be precise and clear to the learners.
It must be an eye-catcher to have a sense of interaction and must consider the font
size being used.
My Proposed Board Display

Theme: Achievements and Activities of the students for active learning and development.

The following are the best features of my proposed bulletin enhancement:
 Motivational and Informational- with its content, students were able to stay motivated
to aim for achievements.
 Balance and Clarity- the space are maximizing with its contents and posters.

Content Resources (Name each needed resource and give each a brief description):
 Plywood- serves as a base for the board itself.
 Cartolinas- for design and covered purposes of the board.
 Pins- to attach the materials.

Materials for aesthetic enhancement:

 The materials are cartolinas, printed materials, pins, pictures and cut-out patterns.

REFLECT

1. Name at least five skills that a teacher should have to be able to come up with effective
board displays. Elaborate on why each skill is needed.
 Resourcefulness- a teacher must be wise enough to become resourceful on the best way
possible.
 Creativity- thinking out of the box wherein a teacher must have wider imaginations on
making impossible, possible.
 Efficient- he/she must use its maximum effort to be efficient as possible.
 Innovative- he/she must think of incomparable board displays that will achieve its purpse
for the target audience.
 Intelligent- he/she must be wise enough to think critically on the contents or materials to
be posted on board displays.

2. Which of the skills you named in number one do you already have? Recall your past
experiences in making board displays. How do you practice these skills?
 For me, I must say being innovative and efficient on maximizing all the possible
resources to be used in the possible matter. During our high school days, bulletin boards
are part of our yearly projects. My favourite bulletin board we had is during our grade
11th wherein, our faces were posted on it. Luckily, we have classmates who are creative
and innovative on making a good outcome of our board displays.

3. Which skills do you still need to develop? What concrete steps will take on how you can
improve on or acquire these skills?
 I think being creative, I’m not an artistic person but one thing that I loved about myself is
that I always do my best to help and try to learn things out of creation.
