Name of the School Observed: Sagay National High School
Location of the School: Sagay City, Negros Occidental, Philippines
Date Visit: October 9, 2023

The room where we were assigned was indeed not well ventilated, and I think this is the reason
why the students cannot concentrate well to their lessons.
In the reason that it was an open-area, the sun beams directly affecting the rooms making it to be
sultry.
As I entered SNHS, there are a lot of things that amazed me. One of these is, the teachers are
using speaker and microphone when having their class which I have not experienced during our
high school life. In some other rooms, there are some audio/visual guides that being used to
assist the learners' mental process.
Meanwhile, when crossing to the room, the students are greeting us "good afternoon, visitors"
which indeed heartwarming. We take our response when they also greet me.

Analyze
How do the school campus and the classroom in particular impact the learning
of the students going to school? What are your conclusions?

The condition of every building and the school environment had really affect
the students learning development. The students cannot concentrate into their
classes if their school environment does not suit to their learning adaptability.
Thus, in educating the students, we should have to consider a best
environment for them.

How does this relate to your knowledge of child and adolescent development?
How does this relate to your knowledge of facilitating learning?

It was said that the environment of a child affects a lot to his development.
When taking into this kind of stage, this is the very crucial level on which what
the child experiences be can bore within his life. What environment he
experiences might be remained handled within his existence.

Reflect

1. Would you like to teach in the school environment you just observed? Why?
Why not?

Yes. The school had indeed good facilities, and if it happened that the school
has not, I will not change my decision because student that schooling in a
public schools need more attention to guide their educational experiences. I
have seen that it is hard for them to study on that kind of environment but
their perseverance to learn had catch my attention so much.

2.What kind of school campus is conducive for learning?

The school campus that is conducive for learning must have a complete,
good and operating facilities. There must have also no pollution, clean
and well-organized amenities which can able to enhance students
learning process without any hindrances from its environment.

3.What kind of classroom is conducive for learning?

A classroom that is conducive for learning should have comfortable seating,
natural light, and adequate space for students to move around. It should also be
free of distractions, such as loud noise from outside or nearby classrooms, and
have up-to-date technology, such as interactive whiteboards or computers.
Additionally, there should be a variety of learning materials, such as books,
maps, and posters, to help engage students. Above all, the classroom should
have a positive and supportive atmosphere that encourages learning.

4.In the future, how can you accomplish your answer in number 3?

To accomplish this in the future, I should make sure to have comfortable

furniture, clearly defined areas for learning, and plenty of resources to support
students’ learning. I should also encourage students to keep the classroom clean
and organized to limit distractions. Additionally, I should provide students with
plenty of breaks and opportunities for collaboration. Finally, make sure to keep
up with new technology to keep students engaged and motivated.

5. Write your additional learning insights here:

Learning can be motivated. Thus, the environment of the school campus

has an important role in motivating the students learning. How could
any student study well if their rooms are sultry?
Then, it is my opinion to say that the learner's environment can affect
the learner's learning development

Activity 1.2 Observing bulletin board displays

1. Go around the school and examine the board displays. How many board
displays do you see?
2. Where are the display board found? Are they in place where targets
viewers can see them?
3. What are the display about? What key message do they convey? What
images and colors do you see? How are the pieces of information and
images arranged?
4. What materials were used in making the displays? Are borders used?
5. Do you notice some errors? (misspelled words, grammar inconsistencies
and the like)
6. Are the message clear and easily understood?
7. Think about what your attention. Why did it get your attention?
8. Take a photo of the display board(if allowed).

Based on your suggestions, make your board display lay-out. You may present
your output through any of these:
 A hand-made drawing or lay -out
 An electronic(computer) drawing illustration design
 A collage
My Board Lay-out

What do you think was the purpose of the board display?

The purpose of a board display in a classroom is to provide visual aids to help students learn. It can be
used to display essential information, such as the lesson plan, a timeline of events or a student’s progress.
It can also be used to display charts, maps, diagrams or other visuals that may help the students
understand the material being taught. Additionally, it can be used to create a more inviting and
stimulating learning environment.

Did the board display design reflect the likes/interest of its target’s audience? Why? Why not?

Yes, the board display design did reflect the likes and interests of its target audience. The design was
carefully crafted to appeal to the target audience and included elements such as bright colors, eye-
catching graphics, and engaging content that resonated with the audience. As a result, the design was able
to grab the attention of the target audience and communicate the desired message effectively.

Was the language used clear and simple for the target audience to understand? Why? Why not?

Yes, the language used for the board display was clear and simple for the target audience to understand.
The content was easily understandable and conveyed the message in a straightforward manner. The use of
simple language and terms made the content accessible to the target audience, regardless of their
educational background. Furthermore, the use of diagrams and visuals further helped to explain the
content in a more concise way. This helped to ensure that the target audience was able to grasp the
message quickly and effectively.

Was the board display effective? why? Why not?

The board display located outside the principal’s office was effective in providing visibility to students,
staff and visitors. It was a great way to communicate important messages and keep everyone informed.
However, it may not have been the most effective way to get more detailed information out to the
community since it could be difficult to read from a distance. Additionally, due to its location outside the
principal’s office, it was not accessible to everyone.

What suggestions can you make?

One suggestion I would make is to make the board display more visible by placing it in a more central
location, such as the school lobby or other high-traffic area. Having the board display in a visible area
would make it easier for students, faculty, and visitors to see and interact with it. Additionally, the board
could be used to share upcoming school events, such as sporting games or clubs, which would help to
increase engagement among the school community.

Based on your suggestions, propose an enhanced version of the display board. Use the form below.

My Proposed Board Display

Theme: SCHOOL Activities previously and The Upcoming Events

Board Title: Time to check on the brightest side!

Rationale (Purpose):

The purpose of this proposed board display of mine is to give the teachers, students, and the visitors the
information that they needed to know in relations to school related stuff, and giving them ideas on
something that is new from their sight. I would like to put up an informative side of board that could
reflect the positive side of the school, and the joy in learning.

Objectives:

To give the teachers, students and the visitors of the school the information they needed in relation to
schools achievements, upcoming events, and an informative side of learning.

Best features of my Proposed bulletin enhancement:

I am going to use colorful materials, and a design that could attract the target audiences. If the school
can facilitate a few funds for this proposed bulletin I would love to make it more entertaining for all the
audiences. I would love to put up some images, cute designs, legible cut out letters, and even putting up
a few crook boards inside that displayed board in order for the students to share the information they
want the people know. This is also a way to give the students a freedom on how they will use their
resources.

Content Resources (Name each needed resource and give each a brief description)

Colorful materials and the lay-out designs, the material to be used in here would be cartolina, color
paper, color pencil, highlighter, color pen, post it and etc. This will give a stimulating attraction for the
all the audiences, and used it to emphasize some information that is a must read for the audience. This
would also help attract even the young children of pre-schooler, and elementary since at that young
age, they love colorful things.
Color print outs for the images. I could use posters, print out materials, brochure etc that I
could do with to emphasize more on the topics that needed some pictures for further information and
used for visualization learning. I’ll be also be needing a glass to protect the displayed board from any
unwanted disturbance.

Materials for aesthetic enhancement:

Since the materials alone could not be done only by me, I would be needing a donation coming from
school if they could provide some funds especially for the bulletin board itself, and the glass that is
needed, and also the payment for its set up at the school ground. If they could not or could only give a
few amount. I would probably take the initiative to solicit some amount of money from my family
member or friends, explaining about the purpose of this money. If there will be an excess amount, it
would likely to be put as a savings for future materials that is to be used, especially that I'd be wanting
to change the content of this board for every three months of the whole school year.

Reflect
1. Name at least five skills that a teacher should have to be able to come up with
effective board displays. Elaborate on why each skill is needed.

 Creativity: A teacher should have creativity to come up with interesting and engaging
board displays. This is important to capture the students' attention and to keep the
students' interest in the topic.
 Organization: A teacher needs to be organized in order to effectively plan and
implement board displays. Organization helps the teacher to ensure that the display is
properly laid out and that all of the necessary components are included.
 Minimalistic Skill- we should not spend so much money for something in an extravagant
way. A teacher should know how she/he can find resources in a not so expensive way.
This is to teach the students that one need not to spend too much, but instead find a way
for an alternative idea in order to achieve one's goal morally.
 Communication Skills: A teacher should have good communication skills in order to be
able to explain the board display to the students in a clear and concise manner.
 Time Management: A teacher should have the ability to manage their time effectively to
create board displays in a timely manner. This ensures that the board display is ready
when it needs to be and that the students are able to benefit from the display.

2. Which of the skills you named in # 1 do you already have? Recall your past
experiences in making board displays. How do you practice these skills?

During my school days, I haven't experienced making board displays. However, I could
possibly consider myself having this creative and visualization skills. Though I am not that
of an expert but in some way or another I could pull it to have this make over thing and
make it far more interesting for the students.

3.Which skills do you still need to develop? What concrete steps will you take on how
you can improve on or acquire these skills.

Well, I am not confident enough when it comes to my Grammar and Communication

Skills; I guess I need to work on this through reading, and getting back on my lessons
back then.

Another one is the minimalistic instinct. I am not the typical person who really can
pull something out from a certain resources and use it. If I need to spend something
on a certain project I'll do as much as I can to accomplish it without even thinking
some alternative ways. In order for me to develop this kind of thing, I need to get some
ideas from internet, and ask things from my seniors on how to do it.

creativity shine!
