1. Discuss the significance of Civil Engineering in
today’s society. 5pts
The significance of Civil Engineering in today's society is the science of creating
and designing bridges, roads, and highways, among other things. It is a profession in
which civil engineers construct dams, bridges, water systems, roadways, and other
structures. They are required to come up with innovative strategies to enhance their
construction infrastructure in the face of climate change, growing urbanization, and
drought. They are meant to be in this field to give us a better future.

2. Give at least 3 characteristics that a good Civil


Engineer should have. And why? 3 pts each
Communication skills. The most crucial life skill is the ability to communicate effectively.
It is what allows us to communicate with others and understand what is said to us. The
capacity to express information effectively, clearly, and as intended is a critical life skill
that should not be underestimated.

Creativity. Creativity is fundamental not only in art but also in life, business, and
relationships. Creativity and invention frequently exist. To be innovative, you must
frequently be creative. Creativity may help you build your life in terms of the
connections you develop, the enterprises you join, and the way you approach
education.

Decision Making. Management relies heavily on decision-making. It is the most crucial


aspect of the planning process. When managers plan, they decide on a variety of issues,
including what goals their organization will pursue, what resources will be used, and
who will do each essential duty.
3. Define at least two Civil Engineering Sub-discipline. 3
pts each
Structural Engineering. Is at the heart and nerve of all structures, large and small.
Structural engineers are involved in all stages of design and construction to guarantee
that the structure is durable and stable. Design comprises both creative and analytical
endeavors.
Water Resources Engineering. Water resource engineers advise on the sustainable use
of resources such as water conservation, dam construction, and water conveyance to
customers. Their planning guarantees holistic, integrated water management that
balances the needs of nature and users.
