Oral Communication in Context

I. Objectives

At the end of the lesson, the student should be able to:

 identify the different types of speech styles;

 perform a 3-minute spiel depicting the types of speech styles; and,
 explain how the types of speech styles contribute to effective communication.

III. Procedure
A. Preliminary Activities
1. The teacher will greet the students and ask for someone to lead the prayer.
2. The teacher will ask the monitor for the absentees as part of attendance-
checking.
B. Motivation
1. The teacher will provide jumbled words which the students will answer.
2. She will then explain how the words are related to today’s lesson.
C. Discussion and Analysis
1. The teacher will be showing different videos which the students analyze. If the
students cannot immediately answer, the teacher will use guide questions.
2. If the students answer correctly, the teacher will provide what speech style
the video is depicting.
3. The teacher will provide more information on the speech style they analyzed.
D. Application
1. The teacher will organize the class into five groups.
2. Each group will be doing a 3-minute spiel of their assigned speech style.
3. The teacher will give the students 10 minutes to prepare.
 E. Generalization
1. To generalize the lesson, the teacher will ask the question, “How do the
different speech styles contribute to effective communication?”

IV. Evaluation
The students shall answer on the quiz link provided by the teacher.

V. Assignment
On a short bond paper, create five example sentences under each speech style. The
assignment shall be submitted at the next meeting.
Format: Arial 13”, 1.5 line spacing, 1-inch margin
