A/ An – Mạo từ không xác định(indefinite article)

Trong phần này chúng ta cùng tìm hiểu về mạo từ không xác định A/ An.

– A/ An được dùng trước một danh từ đếm được số ít với nghĩa nói chung và có nghĩa
là một -1 –

– “A” được dùng trước danh từ bắt đầu bằng một phụ âm.

Ví dụ:
a door(cái cửa ra vào, cửa lớn)
a cat (con mèo)
a doctor (bác sĩ)
a car (xe hơi)
a teacher (giáo viên)

– “An” được dùng trước danh từ bắt đầu bằng một nguyên âm ( A.E.I.O.U).
Ví dụ:
an apple – (quả táo)
an orange (quả cam)
an eraser (cái tẩy, cục gôm)
an umbrella(cái ô, cây dù)
an ink- pot (bình mực, lọ mực)
an engineer (kỹ sư)

The – Mạo từ xác định(definite article)

“The” là mạo từ xác định(definite article). “The” được dùng trong các trường hợp sau
đây:

1. Dùng để nhắc lại 1 danh từ đã đề cập ở phía trước:

I have a book and a dictionary. The book is $10, and the dictionary is $21.
They are a brother and a sister. The brother is 20 years old. The sister is 18
years old.
2. Dùng để nói đến các danh từ đã xác định, cả người nói và người nghe đều biết.
A: Where is your father?
B: He’s in the garden.
 3. Dùng để chỉ những vật, những điều là duy nhất.
The earth – trái đất
The moon – mặt trăng
The sun – mặt trời.
