Importance of Learning a Foreign Language

43% of people can speak 2, 13% of people can speak 3 and 3% of people
can speak 4 or more languages. And in my opinion this numbers should be
increased. Because being able to speak foreign languages is really important and
has a lot of benefits.
First of all, we are in digital era. We can access information, contents,
media etc. from foreign countries in seconds. But people who has no foreign
language cannot use them efficiently. And also, we are faced with foreign
languages in our daily life too. While we are working, walking, talking… We
should not let it to stop us.
Secondly, learning a new language makes us aware about the other side of
the world. It shows us there are different lives actually. Because while we are
learning a new language, we are also learning about the culture of nations which
has spoken it. And the cultural interaction that could be become with this can
help modernizing of undeveloped countries or people.
Finally, learning languages develops our intelligence, opens our minds.
So, working brains and open-minded people are necessary for making progress
on technology, politics and more.
In short, learning new languages’ benefits cannot be counted. We should
learn to be a qualified person and to form our societies.
