GENDER AND DEVELOPMENT NARRATIVE REPORT

School Based Training on Child Protection Policy and Anti-Bullying Policy

The Child Protection Policy was a comprehensive framework designed to prioritize
the well-being of all children in the community. It contained safeguards such as background
checks for adults who work with children, mandatory reporting of any suspicions of abuse,
and the provision of resources and support to vulnerable families. The town created safe
areas where children may seek assistance and guidance when they felt uncomfortable or
upset. Meanwhile, the Anti-Bullying Policy sought to foster a culture of kindness and
understanding among children.
The Child Protection Policy adheres to the Child Rights Act of 2003. This policy
stipulates that no one should be harmed, bullied, or abused, whether verbally, physically,
mentally, or emotionally.
In connection with this, Balocbocan Elementary School organized a School Based
Training on Child Protection Policy and Anti-Bullying Policy on December 14, 2023. This
aims to update the teachers in the newest policy regarding the Child Right Act of 2003.
Jenevie S. Maribojoc, a GAD Coordinator and resource speaker for the Child
Protection Policy and Anti-Bullying Policy of 2003, discusses the various policies that
protect children's rights. This policy created and maintained an environment in which
students feel comfortable and secure, and they are encouraged to speak or listen. This also
ensures that students are aware that there are adults at the school that they can approach
if they are concerned or in difficulty. The school further guaranteed that, wherever possible,
every effort would be taken to build good working relationships with parents and colleagues
from partner organizations.

As part of the advocacy effort to support Child Protection Policy, Balocbocan
Elementary School hosted a discussion and open forum for all teachers from various
grades. This talk became an open door to the implementation of various actions for any
event that may emerge. These also highlighted the distinction between corporal punishment
and positive discipline.

IMPORTANCE OF PARENTAL GUIDANCE IN RELATION TO PRE-MARITAL SEX
The Balocbocan Elementary School, along with a group of concerned parents,
educators, and sixth-grade students, met to discuss an important topic: the role of parental
supervision in regard to premarital sex. The school thought that building healthy
relationships and responsible decision-making among its students necessitated a combined
effort from parents and the larger community. They prepared a series of orientations to
emphasize the importance of parental guidance in navigating the intricacies of relationships
and intimacy.
The school Jenevie S. Maribojoc, a passionate clinic teacher,a GAD coordinator
spoke during these sessions. She discussed the significance of open communication and
building trust with the youngsters.
The orientation emphasizes the importance of parental supervision in creating a
teenager's sense of love, respect, and the emotional components of relationships. They
emphasized the need of addressing principles, boundaries, and the potential repercussions
of having premarital sex.
Through engaging seminars and discussions, parents learned how to approach
these sensitive talks with sensitivity, understanding, and accurate information. They were
advised to create a family climate that fostered open discourse without judgment, allowing
their children to feel at ease addressing sensitive themes.
The schools also played an important role in implementing comprehensive sex
education programs that were consistent with the ideals and ideas expressed during the
orientations. These programs sought not just to deliver accurate sexual health information,

but also to promote values such as respect, consent, and responsible decision-making in
partnerships. Especially in higher grades.
As time passed, the consequences of these orientations became clear. Parents
reported feeling more confident and prepared to talk about relationships and intimacy with
their children. Teenagers, in turn, felt supported and understood, which fostered trust and
respect among family members.
