Dear Mr. Khattab,

After examination of the submitted documents, please find the observations that we can formulate at present within the scope of the mission
referenced here above.

Best regards,

The Engineer: A. MOUSSA The Manager: N. MOUSSA

Observations / Notes / Comments

1. The project consists of two separate building blocks erected on a common basement floor; therefore, for seismic analysis, the buildings
should be modeled as separate towers, so either the multiple towers option in ETABS should be used or an expansion joint in the basement
should be placed to separate the two buildings, and then each structure would be analyzed and designed individually.

Regarding the ETABS model:

2. In the defined response spectrum function, the values of Ca and Cv should be rectified to match the values corresponding to the site
classification SC stated in the soil investigation report.

3. Column C1 at axes intersection D-5 should reach the Base level of the stories. Column C2 at axes intersection E-2 is not supported. Please
make sure that each column is supported properly at its corresponding level.

4. The seismic weight (mass source) should include the superimposed dead loads.

5. The story range in the static seismic load patterns should include the upper stories of the buildings instead of having the MEZZ GR floor as
the top story.

6. The columns should be moment-end released unless clarified otherwise, since they are not part of the lateral force-resisting system. The
shear walls alone should be resisting the lateral forces, unless the columns are part of a moment frame.

7. The value of 5 for the Overstrength Factor R does not correspond to a shear wall system.

8. The time period coefficient Ct in the defined seismic load patterns should be equal to 0.02 for a shear wall lateral force-resisting system
instead of 0.035.

9. Accidental eccentricity of 5% should be applied to the diaphragms in the response spectrum load cases.

10. Allowable stress combinations need not be increased by 10%.

11. Strength combinations (LRFD) should include the vertical component of seismic ground motion being equal to 0.5C aID.

12. The used concrete material is labeled ‘FCU=300’ but has a compressive strength of 35.45 MPa. To be kindly rectified or clarified.
Also, the modulus of elasticity of the concrete material should be equal to: Ec (MPa) = 4700√fc′ (MPa)

13. The thickness of the raft foundation is 95 cm in the SAFE model, while the value stated in the drawings is 70 cm. To be kindly rectified or
modified.
14. To account for the stiffness reduction due to concrete cracking, the following modifiers should be applied:
