Assignment # 2 – Summary of Email Tips

Purpose of Assignment:

 Develop communication skills, including assessment of audience, format, and content.


 Practice summarizing key details, focusing on reading material and selecting and applying key points.
 Prepare an email, a common communication tool, applying the article contents to the format of the
assignment.

Steps to Take

1. Read the article provided in the Week 4 learning folder, by Corrigan and Hunt-McNabb, on writing
effective emails.

2. Note key points from the required reading by Corrigan and Hunt-McNabb (from Inside
Higher Ed). Then summarize those key points within your email that you will upload.

3. Be sure to APPLY/PRACTICE the key ideas within the article.

4. At the bottom of your email, before your “sign-off”, provide a statement that includes the APA
documentation to provide credit for the article. Use the Publication Manual of the Psychological
Association to determine the APA reference statement.

A few reminders:
 Layout – email; however, you will upload the prepared email through the Assignments and
Activities tab.
 Late assignments are not evaluated.

 The applicable article that you are summarizing (posted in the Week 4 learning folder)
 PPTs posted in the weekly learning folder (on summarizing and on emails)
