There are a number of reasons for pomegranate flower drop:

1. POLLINATION – To answer the question of why pomegranate flowers fall off, we
need to know a little about the plants’ reproduction. Pomegranate trees are self-
fruitful, which means the flowers on the pomegranate are both male and female.
Pollinating insects and hummingbirds assist in spreading the pollen from flower to
flower. You can even help too, by using a small brush and lightly brushing from

Flower and no fruit is due to lack of nutrition, especially potassium and other minerals.
You can add some NPK once a month in the tree, or organically, you can use banana and/or
onion peels as fertilizer. Please see how to’s on internet.
Either add these to your compost pile, if you make own compost, or prepare them and add
with vermicompost.

Related What causes the flower of a pomegranate to drop off after pollination?
It is the floral leaves that drop off, not the whole flower. The essential parts of a flower are
the ovaries and the anthers. Once pollination is achieved, the petals and sepals really do not
have any serious functions to perform. The plant can shed them to conserve energy for the
development of the fruit. There are however plants in the Malvaceae family that keep the
floral leaves as aggregate photosynthetic structures.

When I worked at a nursery that sold pomegranate trees, we recommended that young
plants be cut back hard every year for the first few years. That means cutting them down to
1 to 1 1/2′ tall. This caused the plant to send out many side branches.
By the time they were in 7-gallon pots, they wouldn’t need much more pruning, other than
removing crossing branches and dead wood. Last year, at the nursery, I pollinated some of
the flowers, and one 6′ tall plant developed 6 fruits!
Make sure it’s getting full sun, and don’t pamper it with too much water or fertilizer. It needs

For my Poinsettia plants, I regularly prune them for a nice bushy appearance, its ongoing if
they get leggy. I general fertilize/repot in spring and/or they go outdoors. They thrive in

Related Is there a way to make a pomegranate flower bloom faster?
There are a couple of ways of empowering a pomegranate blossom to sprout more quicker.
One way is to guarantee that the plant is getting satisfactory daylight and water.
Pomegranates lean toward the full sun and well-depleting soil. They likewise should be
treated consistently with reasonable manure. One more method for empowering blossoming
is to prune the plant consistently to eliminate any dead or harmed branches, which will
support new development. Also, you can attempt to control the temperature and moistness
around the plant, as pomegranates favor warm and dry circumstances to sprout.

Hi there, unfortunately, there is no surefire way to tell if the seeds of a pomegranate are red
without opening the shell. However, there are a few things you can look for that may give

The color of the skin. The skin of a pomegranate should be a deep red color. If the

The weight of the pomegranate. A pomegranate that is heavy for its size is more
