D. Materials : bond paper, Manila Paper, permanent marker, white board pen, laptop, meter stick.
E. Value Focus : Always follow the right Path

III. PROCEDURE :
TEACHER’S ACTIVITY STUDENTS’ ACTIVITY TEACHER’S NOTE
A. Pre-Activity
1. Prayer A student leads the prayer. A prayer after the gospel song is
2. Review played. (10,000 Reasons)
B. Activity Proper

i. Drill/Review
What do you call the function of degree 1?
How many x & y-intercepts a Linear Function has?
What do you call or describe the graph of Linear Function?
What do you call the function of degree 2?
How many x & y-intercepts a Quadratic Function has?
What do you call or describe the graph of Quadratic Function?
(Emphasize that the general term for all function of n degree is polynomial function. Emphasize also
that the focus of the study of polynomial function in Grade 10 is of degree greater than 2, hence, Linear
function and Quadratic Function had been studied already in Grade 9)
ii. Motivation
Do you know that polynomial function has a behavior?
iii. Presentation
This morning we are going to study the behavior of the graph of polynomial functions.
C. Activity Proper :
Activity 1: Case Study
Using the GEOGEBRA APP, have the student describe the graph of the following polynomial functions.
Polynomial Function in Factored Form Graph
Standard Form
D. Analysis :

a) Is the leading coefficient a positive or a negative number?

b) Is the polynomial
E. Abstraction : of even degree or odd degree?
c) At what point/s does the graph passes through the x-axis? What do you call this point/s? what is
the relationship between the x-intercepts to the degree of the polynomial function?
d) At what point does the graph passes through the y-axis? What do you call this point? What part of
the polynomial function is the y-intercept?
e) Observe the roots of the polynomial function, is the root of odd or even multiplicity? What
happen to the graph of odd multiplicity? Even multiplicity?
f) Count the number of turning points of the graph. How it related to the degree of the polynomial
function?
g) Observe the end behavior of the graph on both sides. Is it rising or falling to the left or to the
right?
1. What do you observe if the degree of the polynomial is odd and the leading coefficient is
positive?
2. What do you observe if the degree of the polynomial is odd and the leading coefficient is
negative?
3. What do you observe if the degree of the polynomial is even and the leading coefficient is
positive?
4. What do you observe if the degree of the polynomial is even and the leading coefficient is
negative?
5. State the relationship between the degree of the polynomial and the x-intercepts.
6. State the relationship between the number of turning points of the graph of polynomial
function of degree n.
