IV PROCEDURES
Engage a) Greetings and singing of Mathematics song
b) Can you recall your lesson last week?
c) Review using Activity sheets by group
1) The group who finished first with all correct answers
will win.
2) Time limit is only 5 minutes.
Group 1 Group 2

Group 3
d) Ana has Php5.05 in her purse while Gina has Php5.50. Who
has the greater amount of money?
e) Today we will be comparing decimals and we will make the
amount of money in the problem to compare first.
Explore
a) Review on place value of decimals
b) What symbols are usually used in comparing numbers of different
values or the same values?
c) Consider the decimals 4.51 and 4.55. Here, the digits at tenths
place are the same, so move to the hundredths place and compare
numbers. 4.51 is less than 4.75.
4.51 _<_ 4.55
4.51 < 4.75
Practice these on the board

How about arranging decimals from least to greatest or vice versa?

Like this one 2.35, 2.05, .255. 2.0. 1.50? How do you arrange this?
Voluntary answers from learners are encouraged.
Final answer is .255, 1.50, 2.05, 2.35, 2.55/ 2.55, 2.35, 2.05, 1.50, .255
Try these activity.

Explain
In your activity/ies, how did you compare and arrange the decimal
numbers? Answers related to right answer be accepted.

When comparing and ordering decimal numbers, you start by

comparing the first digit immediately after the decimal point to
see which is bigger. If those two are the same, you compare the
next digits. If those two are the same, then you move on and
compare the next digits
Elaborate
In comparing and ordering numbers what are the most important
things you need to remember?
What common words do you usually used in comparing and ordering
decimal numbers?
In what situation in life or any activity at home can you usually apply
this knowledge?

Evaluate
Are you ready to answer the activity about this lesson?

Checking of answers is done by the teacher.

V. Agreement
Answer the following at home and try to reach me out through our GC
if you need further clarification.

I also uploaded video links for you to watch about this lesson.
VI. Reflection/s
1. No. of learners who earned 80% on the formative assessment

2. No. of learners who require additional activities for

remediation who scored below 80%
3.Did the remedial lessons work? No. of learners who have
caught up with the lesson
4. No. of learners who continue to require remediation

5. Which of my teaching strategies worked well? Why did this work?

6.What difficulties did I encountered which my principal or

supervisor can help me solve?
7.What innovation or localized materials did I use/discover
which I wish to share with other teachers?

IV PROCEDURES
Engage a) Greetings and singing of Mathematics song
b) Can you recall your lesson last week?
c) Review using Activity sheets by group
1) The group who finished first with all correct answers
will win.
2) Time limit is only 5 minutes.
3) All groups will solve the equations below.

a) How fast did you go if you ran 12 kilometers in 2 hours?

b) Unlocking of difficulties

Speed - is a scalar quantity that refers to how fast an object is

moving.Speed can be thought of as the rate by which an object
covers distance.
Distance - is the total length between two positions
Time - is the quantity measured or measurabale period during
which an action, process or condition exists or continues

e) Today we will be calculating the speed on the given problem since

the distance and time are given.
Explore
a) Review on different units of measure
b) What are the units used in measuring the distance? The time?
what about the speed ?
c) Going back to the problem
How fast did you go if you ran 12 kilometers in 2 hours?
Given:
Distance (d) - 12 km
Time (t) = 2 h
Speed (S)= ?
Formula for finding the Speed: S = d / t
Substitute the formula for the given data:
S = 12 km / 2 h
S = 6 km / h
So therefore, the you ran with a speed of 6 km/h.
Try to practice these. I will give 1 problem for every group to solve.
1: If a car travels 100kilometers in 2 hours, find the average speed.
2: A world-record holder ran 800 meters in 86 seconds. What was his average speed
rounded to the nearest tenths?

)3. A dog runs from one side of a park to the other. The park is 80.0 meters across.
The dog takes 16.0 seconds to cross the park. What is the speed of the dog?

Explain
In your activity, how did you solve for the speed? What have you
noticed on the unit used in answering for the speed?
I will show you a video about this lesson. Watch carefully.
https://youtu.be/3GTk9t-c9Uk?si=R4kHjGWyu3d_3FsS
Elaborate
In solving for the speed, it is very important to understand the
problem carefully what are given so that you can determine the
distance and the time for you to divide in order to get the speed.
Always remember also that the units in speed comprises the unit of
the distance used and the unit of the time used.
Evaluate
Are you ready to answer the next activity?
Using the worksheet answer this in 10 minutes.
1. A car travels 400 meter in 40 seconds. How fast is it going?
2. A conveyor can move mateials at a distance of 54 meters in 18
seconds. How fast does the conveyor move?
3 .If it takes 12 hours to cover 120 miles, how much is the speed?
Checking of answers is done by the teacher.
