Activity 2:
DEAR Time (Drop Everything and Read) (20
minutes)
Students independently read, selecting books that
challenge their vocabulary. Encourage them to
note unknown words for later discussion.
Activity 3:
Partner Reading (30 minutes)
Students pair up to read passages or short stories,
focusing on identifying and discussing new
vocabulary. Partners help each other with word
meanings and pronunciation.
Session Objectives: Understand and practice making text-to-self, text-to-text, and text-to-world
connections. Enhance comprehension by relating personal experiences, other texts, and
world events to the reading material.
Session Objectives: Develop students' ability to make inferences and draw conclusions from texts. Enhance
