Objectives Assess students' current reading levels to establish a baseline.

Procedure A. Daily Routine (10 minutes)


Prayer: Start with a short prayer.
Checking of Attendance: Quickly check attendance.
Energizer: Conduct a quick, fun energizer such as "Simon Says" to get students ready and focused.
B. Activity 1: Reading Time (170 minutes)
Pre-Reading Activities (30 minutes)
Story Introduction: Present the selected story, discussing its title and cover. Ask students to predict the story's content based on the
cover and title.
Vocabulary Preview: Introduce 5 key vocabulary words from the story. Use visuals and simple definitions to explain their meanings.
During Reading (60 minutes)
Read the selected story aloud, pausing to engage students with questions about predictions, clarifications, and connections to their
experiences.
Use visual aids (pictures from the story or related themes) to enhance understanding and engagement.
Post-Reading Activity (80 minutes)
Discussion: Facilitate a group discussion about the story's themes, characters, and setting.
Encourage students to express their thoughts and connections to the story.
Review Vocabulary: Revisit the new vocabulary words introduced before reading, using them in sentences related to the story.
Encourage students to create their own sentences.
C. Activity 2: DEAR Time (Drop Everything and Read) (30 minutes)
Allow students to choose a book and read independently. Circulate to offer support and engage with students about their chosen books.
D. Activity 3: Partner Reading (30 minutes)
Pair students and have them take turns reading a passage to each other. Encourage discussion about what they read.

Evaluation Oral Retelling: Ask students to retell the story in their own words, assessing their understanding and ability to recall key details.

Assignment Reading Journal Entry: Assign students to write a brief journal entry about the story, focusing on what they liked, learned, and questions they still
have. Encourage them to use the new vocabulary words in their entries.
