One of the driving forces behind this trend is the demanding nature of modern
work environments. Increased workloads, longer working hours, and global
competition leave l result inmany individuals feeling exhausted and drained, with
little time or energy left remaining for family. Additionally, the rise of the "gig
economy" and flexible work arrangements, while offering some advantages, can
also blur the lines between work and personal life, making it difficult to connect
and fully engage with family. Furthermore, the allure of technology and the digital
world has become a significant competitor for family time. Smartphones, social
media, and online entertainment offer constant stimulation, often drawing
individuals away from face-to-face interactions with their close ones. The ease of
virtual communication can also create a false sense of connection, leading to
neglect of physical presence and deeper emotional engagement within families.
The consequences of this diminishing family time are multifaceted and far-
reaching. Children who lack quality time with their parents may experience
feelings of loneliness, isolation, or even worse more severly, social anxiety. As a
result, they will end up struggling with academic performance and emotional
development. For Among adults, neglecting family connections/ disregarding
family bonds can lead to increased mental illnesses such as stress, depression, etc
as well as a sense of disconnection from their support systems. On a broader
societal level, the decline in family time can weaken social cohesion and
community spirit. Strong families are the building blocks of healthy societies,
fostering values of empathy, cooperation, and social responsibility. When families
are fractured, communities can become more fragmented and individualistic,
potentially leading to increased social problems and a decline in overall well-
being.
