respectful responses and actions;

and
c) actively engage in respect-building activities, reflecting on
personal experiences.
Key Concepts:  Respect is the glue that holds your relationships together.
 You need to learn ways to be respectful and know what to do
when somebody isn’t respectful toward you.
 Giving and receiving respect from others is important because
it helps us to feel safe and to express ourselves.
 Being respected by important people in our lives growing up
teaches us how to be respectful toward others.
 Respect means that you accept somebody for who they are,
even when they’re different from you or you don’t agree with
them.
 Respect in your relationships builds feelings of trust, safety,
and well-being.
 Respect doesn’t have to come naturally – it is something you
learn.
 We get a lot of our self-worth from how the people we care
about see us. Being disrespected can make you feel not good
enough, worthless or like no one will want to be in a friendship
or relationship with you.
 Active participation in respect-building activities is essential for
learners to internalize and apply respect as a critical social skill
