To check
Addition whether of
& Subtraction theSimilar
givenFraction
fraction are
equivalent or not , cross multiplication is used.
Remember:
If they have the same cross product, They are
In adding/ subtracting similar fraction Add/subtract the numerator
considered
and as equivalent fraction.
copy the denominator.
Remember:
to add/subtract dissimilar fraction, express them as similar
fraction first then add/subtract the fraction. Express the answer
in lowest term if possible.
Addition & subtract of mixed numbers
Remember:
To multiply mixed number to fraction, express mixed number as improper
fraction. Then, multiply fraction, express the answer in lowest term.
Remember:
To change decimal to fraction, count the number of digits after the decimal
point. The number of digit with tell the power of 10 to be used as denominator ,
simplifiy the graction if needed
Repeating decimals
Remember:
to change fraction to decimal, divide the numerator to the denamintor, if a
remainder zero cannot be obtained, the quotient is called non-terminating or
repiting decimals
Remember:
To compare decimal numbers, line up the decimal points and digis in their
corresponding places value. Then compare the values of the digits starting
from the left most part. Affix the symbols >,< or = to show comparison
To arrange decimal least to gratest or vive versa compare the digits in the
same place value starting from the left most digits.
Rounding off decimals
Remember:
To round off decimals numbers, look at the digit on the right of the round off place. If
in digits in less than 5, retain the digit in the round off place, if the digit on the right is
equal to or greater than 5, add 1 to the round off place.
Multipication of decimals
Remember:
To multiply decimal numbers, multiply as if multiplying whole numbers, Count the decimal places
both factors to find the correct number of decimal places in the product.
Remember:
to multiply decimals by
0.1 move the decimal point 1 places to the left
0.01 move the decimal point 1 places to the left
10 move the decimal point 1 places to the left
100 move tge decimal point 2 place to the left
Division of decimal by whole numbers
Remember:
to devide decimal by whole number. Place the decimal point in the quotient directly
above the decimal point in the devided, then divide as you divede whole numbers
Remember:
To divide by another decimal, make the divisisor a whole numbers by moving the
decimal point nth times to the right the numbers of movement of the divisor
should by=e the samer with the number of movement of the decimal point on the
dividend, then divide the same way to you divide whole numbers.
