Lesson Objective: Students will be able to:


- Understand place value of decimals up to Thousandths
- Understand how to divide and multiply by 10 using Place value table.
- Expanded writing of numbers using place value table.

Observational – Student’s responses during small white board place value session
Questioning – Students will be randomly quizzed on content being delivered to make sure all have
grasped concepts.
Guided Task – Students will be shown how to complete their revision worksheets.
Students Task – Students will be completing fractions on their iPads for My Numeracy.
Students Task – Students will complete the workbook for fractions and Place Value pages 12, 13 and 14.

Timing Teaching Steps What the learner
does
Introduction  Students will be asked to come sit on the mat.
25 mins
 We will play the game of finding the highest number
using place value table.
 Teacher to show students how place value table can be
used to multiply and divide by 10, 100 and 1000
 Students will be shows how to write numbers in
expanded form. Students will be given a chance to
practise on their whiteboards.
Instructions
5 Min There will be 4 groups. Each group has 17 minutes to complete their
Instructions task before rotations.

Group1 – Low Ability group will come to the floor where we will
practise numbers that are a little easier until they grasp the concept.
Level of intensity of numbers will increase for the following tasks
Expanded form, Place Value multiplication and division, ordering
decimals.

Group2 – This group will complete pg 12 of the Mathematic booklets.


If Done they can also do pg 13 and 14.
Group3 – This group will complete My Numeracy on fractions with
iPad.
Group4 – This group will do maths games taking a pick from any of
the previous fraction games.
