INTRODUCTION

Background of the Study

The first chapter will focus on discussing the level of awareness of college students in

Perpetual Help College of Pangasinan on RA 10173 also known as Data Privacy Act. In 2012,

the Republic Act 10173 or the Data Privacy Act was enacted here in the Philippines. The Data

Privacy Act plays an important role to give individuals the ability to control the collection, access

to and then apply of private data about them held by authorities or the private sector.

CONCEPTUAL FRAMEWORK

STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM

The aim of this research study is to provide the best information for the satisfaction of

answers and solutions regarding of: Level of Awareness of College Students in Perpetual Help

College of Pangasinan on RA 10173 Data Privacy Act.

This study answers thr following questions:

 1.) What are the advantages and disadvantages of RA 10173 also known as Data Privacy

Act?

2.) What are the common reasons why college students shared their personal information?

3.) How can college students protect their personal privacy?

4.) How deep the level of awareness of college students about Data Privacy Act?

SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY

The outcome that will occur in this study could assist and strengthen the college students,

teacher, future researchers , readers and as well as school communities in the succeeding

approaches:

College students. The college students of Perpetual Help College of Pangasinan will gain

important information about Data Privacy Act to protect their personal information. It helps them

to know the importance of not publicizing the personal information.

Teachers. The teachers can improve their knowledge about this information to teach and share

to their future students for them to became aware on what they are sharing on public. It also

helps teachers know their level of awareness when it comes Data Privacy Act.

Future researchers. This study can serve as their basis or supporting data for further ideas

tackling Data Privacy Act.

Readers. This study will help the readers to become more aware about Data Privacy Act.
School communities. This research study creates an awareness about Data Privacy Act in the

school communities. It might help them to protect and must be secure when it comes personal

information.
