THREE BASIC FUNCTIONS OF IT ARE WRITING,
NUMERACY, AND PRESENTATION SKILLS.
THE COMMON TOOLS USED FOR THESE ARE
MICROSOFT WORD, EXCEL, AND POWERPOINT.

MICROSOFT WORD

Microsoft Word is a word processor developed


by Microsoft Corporation on October 25, 1983. It
is also known as MS Word.
THE RIBBON
contains multiple tabs which will help you complete common
tasks in Word. It has 9 tabs: file, home, insert, design, layout, references,
mailings, review and view

Illustrations in Microsoft
Word can be visualized or
drawn in the form of pictures,
clip art, shapes, SmartArt,
Charts or screen clipping. They
can be found at the Insert Tab
of the Ribbon.
STEPS ON INSERTING
ILLUSTRATIONS IN MS WORD
Inserting Illustrations: Picture from a File
1. Click Insert tab
2. Click Pictures
3.Insert Picture dialogue
will appear on
the screen as shown in
thepicture.
4. Choose the picture you
want to insert.
5. Click insert.
INSERTING ILLUSTRATIONS: SHAPE
1. Click Insert tab
2. Click Shapes
3. Click the shape that you want.
4. Click the area in your
document
where the shape will be placed.

INSERTING ILLUSTRATIONS: SMARTART


1. Click Insert tab
2. Click SmartArt
3. A dialogue box will appear on the
screen as shown in the picture.
4. Select from the list that you want
5. Click OK
INSERTING ILLUSTRATIONS: CHART

1.Click Insert tab


2.Click Chart
3.Insert Chart dialogue will
appear on the screen.
4.Select the type of chart you want
5.Select the style you want
6.Click OK
7.MS Excel window will appear
with the chart. Edit the data and
close the window after editing the
chart.

RESIZING ILLUSTRATIONS
You can resize the image in two ways:
1. Click image and sizing handles
will appear (circles around the
image). Then, click and drag any
of the sizing handles.
2. You may encode the exact size of
the illustration. Click the picture
Click Format at the picture
tools Encode the exact length and
width
FORMAT PICTURES AND CLIP ART
- Select the picture that you want to format.
A Format tab of the Picture Tools will appear

This section allows you to


improve brightness, contrast,
sharpness, change color quantity,
and provides various artistic
effects.
This section adds
visual style to the
whole picture or clip
art.
FORMAT SHAPE – Click the shape so the Format Tab
of the Drawing Tool will appear

FORMAT CHART
1. Select the chart that you want to format. Chart Tools
will appear that contains the design and the format.
2. To edit the data, click Edit Data.
An MS Excel window will appear where
you will edit the data. Close the window after
editing

3.To add labels, go the chart


layout section. Click the
appropriate button in the Labels
group. The steps may vary in Office
365 version.
MICROSOFT EXCEL
Microsoft Excel is a popular spreadsheet system which
organizes data in columns and in rows that can be
manipulated
through formulas that allow the software to perform
Mathematical functions on the data

BASIC EXCEL FORMULA
FUNCTIONS – these are predefined formula that performs
calculations using specific values.
MICROSOFT POWERPOINT
Microsoft PowerPoint is used for presentations. It is
developed by Microsoft Corporation. The program uses slides
to convey information rich in multimedia and is used to create
complex business presentations, simple educational outlines
and more.

ADVANCE TECHNIQUES IN POWERPOINT


ANIMATION AND TIMING IN POWERPOINT

Microsoft PowerPoint provides several animation styles in different


categories: entrance, emphasis, exit and motion paths. Animations makes a
dynamic presentation because it makes the illusion of motion and the
illusion of change.
To put animation in your presentation, go to Animations tab and
click Add Animations.
INSERTING HYPERLINK
Hyperlink is used in the presentation to easily jump to another slide
in the current presentation, another slide in a different presentation,
another file or webpage, or email address. You may use either text or image.
Text hyperlinks are usually in color blue and underlined.
To insert hyperlink,
1. click the word or image
then click the insert tab
2. click hyperlink or link in
other versions of MS
PowerPoint.
3. insert Hyperlink dialogue
will appear
4. click on the choices
where you want to link the
image or text
5. select the file or slide
6. click OK
