Shield Volcano.

The outpourings of lava are typically not

make the shield volcanoes relatively safe
during eruptions.

crust. Volcano occurs when there is a movement
in tectonic plates resulting earthquakes. Volcanoes
form when one tectonic plate moves under
another. Usually a thin, heavy oceanic plate
subducts, or moves under, a thicker continental
plate resulting to the creation of volcano.
