AN ORDER ORGANIZING THE BARANGAY NUTRITION COMMITTEE

of BARANGAY PILI for C.Y. 2022-2023
WHEREAS, Malnutrition is affecting the people of barangay Pili,

WHEREAS, Malnutrition retards mental and physical development of our children, weaken their
resistance to infections resulting in unnecessary loss of human lives through high infant and child
mortality rates.

WHEREAS, coordination has proven to be a great value in integrating the food and nutrition efforts of
various concerned individuals and our country downward to barangay level,

WHEREAS, under Presidential Decree No. 491 which is the Nutrition Act of the Philippines, and
National Nutrition Council was created to be the highest policy making and coordinating body on
nutrition,

WHEREAS, with the assumption of the office of the barangay officials, there is a need to organize
special bodies especially Barangay Nutrition Council.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Hon. JHONNY D. RIANO, Punong Barangay of Barangay Pili, San
Fernando, Romblon, do herby order that

SECTION I. Organization of the Barangay Nutrition Committee. Pursuant to DILG Regional

Memorandum No. 94-04 dated October 12, 1994, there is hereby Organized a Barangay Nutrition
Committee to be composed of the following;

SECTION II. DUTIES AND FUNCTIONS OF THE BARANGAY NUTRITION COMMITTEE.

The BNC shall have the following duties and functions.
CHAIRMAN:
1. Support activities of the barangay.
2. Keep minutes of quarterly meetings to monitor performance.
3. Organize specific groups to implement nutrition intervention activities and assess
programs.
4. Ensure budget for Nutrition programs and activities of the barangay
BNS:
1. Responsible for delivering nutrition services and other related activities such as:
* Community Health
* Backyard food production
* Environmental sanitation
* Family planning to the barangay
* Supplemental Feeding
* Culture
2. Conduct PABASA program for parents
3. Conduct Operation Timbang yearly
4. Hold regular quarterly BNC meetings.
5. Conduct monthly reweighing of children ages from 0-23 months and malnourished
children.
6. Conduct quarterly reweighing of children ages from 24-59 months
7. Prepare and submitted monthly nutrition reports in the LGU and in the province

MEMBERS:
1. Assess the Barangay Nutrition Scholar
2. Assess progress of nutrition program
3. Support and coordinate nutrition program and activities of the barangay.
 4. Formulates the Barangay Nutrition Action Plan
5. Implement the Barangay Nutrition Action Plan
6. Help the BNS to make or formulate solution for malnutrition
7. Ensures budget for nutrition program and activities of the barangay
8. Attend regular quarterly BNC meetings
9. Advocate nutrition and the importance of first 1000 days to address malnutrition
10. Help the BNS to prepare younger population so they are physically and mentally
prepared for a health emergency that they will possibly face until they reach old age.

SECTION III. MEETINGS. The BNC shall meet at least once every quarter or as often as be
necessary.

SECTION IV. EFFECTIVITY. This Order shall take effect immediately.

COMMITTEE OF BARANGAY PILI

WHEREAS, Malnutrition is affecting the people of barangay Pili,
