I-WITNESS: ANG UNANG MAESTRA REFLECTION

In the documentary Sandra Aguinaldo, the “I-witness: Ang Unang Maestra” is a

documentary about Loderma Dela Cruz or Teacher Diday, a first teacher of the Dumagat
Indigenous Community from Sta. Ines. From the start I knew the documentary would be an
emotional ride since it is a documentary produced by I-Witness, while watching the documentary
the first thing that came to my mind was education is a privilege to all people. As the video
continues, you would feel that a teacher is a great impact and inspiration to everybody, an example
of this is Teacher diday, she chose to teach the kids in her community rather than teach in the city.
Since she said that if she works in the city, she would only help her family. That is why she chose
to help everyone because she wants to be an inspiration to the kids. I agree with the documentary's
message that there are many individuals who do not have easy access to school, that education has
an impact on all of us, and that education is relevant and necessary in our daily lives. I really like
how this film can be utilized to motivate, enlighten, and encourage viewers to value knowledge.

I am really touched by the documentary; I can feel that I'm very privileged when it comes
to life. This is an example of how people who don't have everything give everything, and that is a
sad reality. I'm really glad that there are some people who are willingly helping other people
without any hesitation. Teacher diday is really a hero, inspiration and a light for her community.
A good education can change anyone, while a good teacher can change everything.

2. What is the importance of Education 20 pts

Education is the most powerful weapon you can use to change the world as Nelson Mandela
said. The importance of education is to help ourselves to understand the world not only in being
smart but also knowledgeable in life. Education is a key to anywhere you go, but unfortunately not
everybody has the access to gain education. Education serves as our tool for power and achieving
our goals. Having access to education allows us to be a mentor, to instruct, and also to contribute
to the improvement of those around us and to our community. It empowers us to be the best
versions of ourselves by providing us with a knowledge on how to approach life. Because of the
challenge it can present, some individuals may at times despise learning and going to school to
learn, but we should accept this type of "love and hate" connection because just what in the
documentary has shown education is important on everybody but not everybody has the privileged
having an education so we have to cherish everything and anything because at the end this will
only benefit us and to those people who we were going to help.
