Chapter 3

METHODS OF RESEARCH AND SOURCES OF DATA

This chapter provides presentation and description of the research design, statistical tools,

and sampling technique which are used by the researchers to gather and data from the

respondents. Data gathering instruments, validity of the instrument and statistical treatment of

data are discussed in this chapter.

Research Design

This type of research that researchers used is the descriptive research because it

aimed to study and describe the impact of sleep deprivation in academic performance of

GAS 12 learners in Alaminos City National High School, the researchers aimed to

describe the factors affecting it.

In this statistical, mathematical, or numerical examination of data obtained via

printed questionnaires, as well as from the manipulation of pre- existing statistical data

using computing methods, quantitative approaches place an emphasis on objective

measurements. The goal of quantitative research was to collect numerical data,

generalize it across populations, or utilize it to explain a particular phenomenon.
