GENERAL DESCRIPTION

FORMERLY KNOWN AS MCGUIRE FIELD, IS AN AIRPORT SERVING THE GENERAL AREA


OF SAN JOSE, OCCIDENTAL MINDORO IN THE PHILIPPINES. IT IS ONE OF THREE
AIRPORTS IN OCCIDENTAL MINDORO, THE OTHERS BEING MAMBURAO AIRPORT AND
LUBANG AIRPORT. THE AIRPORT IS CLASSIFIED AS A PRINCIPAL CLASS 1 DOMESTIC
AIRPORT BY THE CIVIL AVIATION AUTHORITY OF THE PHILIPPINES.

CHARACTERIZED BY RELATIVELY HIGH TEMPERATURE, OPPRESSIVE HUMIDITY AND
PLENTY OF RAINFALL.

UTILITY AND SPACE ENHANCEMENT: THE AIPORT RESIDESAT AN ELEVATION OF


14 FEET(4M) ABOVE MEAN SEA LEVEL. IT HAS ONE RUNWAY DESIGNED 10/28 WITH A
CONCRETE SURFACE MEASURING 1,836 BY 30 METERS. IT CAN ACCOMMODATE
AIRCRAFT AS LARGE AS AIRBUS A320.

FORM AND FUNCTION: THE PUBLIC CONCOURSE AREA AT THE ENRANCE OF THE
TERMINAL BUILDING HAS ACCESS TO PUBLIC TOILETS, CAR RENTAL, BANK AND AN
AIRLINE TICKETING OFFICE. THE AREA IS CONNECTED TO THE CAR PARK AREA AND
THE PASSENGER TERMINAL.
HORIZONTAL AND VERTICAL CIRCULATION: THE VERTICAL CIRCULATION IN SAN
JOSE AIRPORT IS THE RAMPS THAT WILL SERVE AS A WAY FOR THE DISABLED.

SITE-PLANNING AND LANDSCAPE DETAILING: SAN JOSE AIRPORT HAS A SIMPLE


SITE PLANNING, IT HAS A SHORT RUNWAYFOR THE AIRCRAFTT THAT WILL ARRIVED

DESIGN DETAILING: OCCIDENTAL MINDORO OFFERS MORE THAN ITS AWE-


INSPIRING VIEW OF PADDY FIELDS AND MOUNTAIN RANGES. THE DESIGN OF THE SAN
JOSE AIRPORT IS PLAIN AND SIMPLE. AT THE FIRST SIGHT, IT LOOKS LIKE AN
ORINDARY SINGLE STORY BUILDING BECAUSE OF THE FAÇADE AND FINISHES. IT IS
HARD TO IDENTIFY IF THIS BUILDING IS REALLY AN AIRPORT BECAUSE OF THE LACK
OF CHARACTER, AND IT IS MORE LIKE A COVERED PUBLIC MARKING. THE CEILING
HEIGHT OF THE BUILDING IS LOW THAT THEVENTILATION INSIDE CANNOT PROPERLY
CIRCULATE, AND ALOSETHEMATERIALS OF THE BUILDING ARE OLD AND OUTDATED.

PARKING DETAIL AND STANDARDS: SAN JOSE AIRPORT HAS A TYPICAL PARKING
FOR THE APRON AND AIRCRAFT AND FOR THE VEHICLES THAT WILL DROP BY IT HAS

ARCHITECTURAL SYNTHESIS

THE DESIGN OF THE AIRPORT IS SIMPLE AND PLAIN, THE AIRPORT USED A
CONTEMPORARY ARCHITECTURE WHICH IS FAR FROM THE ARCHITECTURAL
CHARACTER OF THE AIRPORT, THE BUILDING MATERIALS OF THE AIRPORT WILL BE
MODERN TO IMPROVE THE PHYSICAL APPERANCE AND STRCUTURAL STRENGTH OF
THE BUILDING. THE GLASS WINDOW WILL ALSO MAKE THE BUILDING LOOKED WDER
THOUGH IT HAS A SMALL SIZE, AND ALSO GIVE A NATURAL LIGHT INSIDE THE AIRPORT
TO LESSEN THE ELECTRICITY CONSUMPTION OF THE AIRPORT.
